Default What have I done?!?!?!?

So I bought the first one as a quick and cheap way to have a little fun over a weekend.

I found this place. I bought more. It is fun.

So I added up some receipts today, and $160+ in aftermarket parts are all on their way. A little here, a little there... It adds up!

Part of me says that I should have just bought a $200 car to begin with. Something tells me I'd be $160 in on aftermarket parts for that one too though.

Now if only the deliveries would start to arrive.

I though the same thing about my first Xmod, by the time I was done I could have had a nice miniZ.
Now I'm more into miniZ and spend most of my money on them, but Xmods are still fun to tinker with. I don't go crazy spending money on aluminum parts for them anymore. I find that they work just as good with a minimum of aluminum parts on them anyways. Now I would just buy some cheap bearings from ebay, shim the wheels with some small washers, drop in a miniZ or microT board in it and call it a day(only if I find a used board for cheap).
.....................and by the way, if you bought a $200 car then you'd probably end up spending way more than $160 on after-maket parts. I know I always do.(but don't tell that to my wife)

I hear you. After this initial run, I am sure I'll slow down so I can play with the newly built nearly all aluminum car.

I would like to pick up an off-road electric for the backyard though.

I know what you mean. I look on ebay for a good deal everyday. Every time a package comes in the wife just gives me a look and turns away.

i keep telling myself that i wont spend too much on this car, ill just wait til i can get a nice mini-z or traxxas truck, but even just doing bearings, wheels, awd kit, gpm tie rod and now a skyline body with a new kits for it. I plan on the lith kit with 2x fets and new motor i will have a bit in, then there is still suspension. I got into these things cuz i figured i would save money modding one of these vs. modding my real car (02 wrx btw). still gets expensive.

LMAO..... welcome to the world of Xmods. I could kill myself for the same thing. I think most of us are victims to the Xmod Wallet vacuum.

The great thing about XMODS is you can jump in for 25 bucks and then from that point on it's sort of "pay as you go" - and there are plenty of ways to go. You can buy mods a little at a time or you can make your own mods with little to no guilt if something doesn't go quite as planned.

It's too bad that they often don't get the respect they deserve when you consider how many people they have introduced to RC in general. The XMODS concept was a truely brilliant idea - too bad in the latter days RS started taking the MOD out of XMOD. Even so, the latest street versions are fun and provide a great platform for Xmodding junkies ;-)

Nail on the head. I never really had an inkling to get into RC (and I am in my thirties) until I picked these up on a lark. Now I’m looking at taking the next step to a 1/16 and also keeping one eye open looking for scale models every chance I get.

You are lucky, Hiyoto. The wife is forcing me to sell my collection or she will donate them. I had to do something... one piece at a time on ebay... haha so clever.
What put her over the edge was me spending about $1000 for a suitcase of them from a recent oversea bus. trip. Hahaha.

I won't be lucky for very long. With the recent purchases I made I'm sure she will flip. I don't think I can by any for awhile now. I can expect a few nights of going straight to bed now.
