Default Alum wheels and baking clay- drift tires?

I looked around the room and remembered that have loads of Fimo and now alum wheel upgrades. After rubbing a piece of baked clay on the table, it offers far less friction than the stock/upgrade rubber tires. Since alum should have no problem sitting in 275 degrees for half an hour, I might just try this idea for a good and cheap set of flush-fit drift tires. Might even use the plastic pots the wheels or tires come in as guidelines.

Thoughts, suggestions before I do this thing?

I hope when you say "use the plastic pots as guidelines" You mean too form them, and not too heat them in.

Go for it, It acutally seems like it might work.

E tape never sits that well and always catches all the crap off the floor. And its baking clay- ends up being plastic'y and a little bendable. Flush fit tires will result in something that costs under 50c per tire and will work great.

are you putting the sticky side on the tire or on the floor? I have never had a problem of the tape flying off in the middle of a run. it will pick up a little bit of floor gunk but nothin that and quick dusting cant take care of!

IMO yeah because Drifting Tires only last for a certain amount of time. Tape lasts much shorter, but as long as you have tape, you can always change it.

Hence why instead of buying 4$ drift tire pairs, you can bake your own (LOL) extremely cheap. I'll work these after I wrap up my vinyl template.

go spend 33 cents on some super cheap, knock off, black tape and put it on the stock tires so you dont have to deal with clay and baking and junk like that. take two tires together and tape them together and cut in the middle all way around. BAM!!!!! DRIFT TIRES

you can buy a big roll of electrical tape for like 99 cents. that will make like probably 300 drift tires. your going to make 300 drift tires out of clay for less than 99 cents?

Might not need 300 given its more durable. Its all experiments and results, not straight up bashing folks.

why not black playdough? it air dries
or maybe black model-magic for hard foam tires
think how much money you spend powering the oven to bake the clay. it's be much better with air dried tires or model magic, and with a thin "traction layer" of modeling clay that's been rubbed into therubber, you might be able to get more grip on tennis courts.
