Default New, just scored a 350z. one quick electrical ?.

hey everyone.
i bought an x mods close to 4 years ago when they 1st came out. like within the first couple months of their appearance on RS shelves. i bought a silver rsx and i still have it running to today.

i bought a used orange 350z off of ebay with a body kit on it and all the take offs and what not.

i cant wait to get into this thing when it gets here.
maybe a new paint job. i am a distributor of PPG products and have access to all PPG colors etc etc. with a real personal owned body shop at hand any kind of paint should be a piece of cake!
i think i'm going to go big on this one and do it right. its a gen 1 chassis. i was thinking some carbon fiber 3m wrap on the body kit fenders. (check this stuff out. people use it on car forums.)
anyways,
6 cell all the way imo, along with maybe doing some steering mods, now, can i have both the ground effects neon under the car and head/tail lights on the car at once?

last question for the night.. to obtain a larger offset for the wheels. do you have to fab some kind of part? or do they sell x mod wheel spacers?!

thanks!

Must be nice is all I can say! lol. Sounds like you have the paint and bodywork side of things all set. Carbon Fiber on the body kit pieces sounds cool as well, I don't think I've seen exactly that done yet. As per your question on the lights & ground effects, I'm almost positive that the ground effects have a second plug in the wiring harness for the lights. (The ground effects, of course, would be plugged into the board) The Wheels you can make yourself with a bit of time and skill...cutting the center out and remounting it further back in the wheel is one way. There's also the Scion TC wheels. (the rears were heavily offset, the fronts were not) "deep dish" look.

-Oh. 6 cell sounds good. Cheap and easy performance.

i saw a green 350z with a yellow tint to it like a pearlescent color and i liked it.
im not to sure what color as of now. i will have to look through the color book to find a nice color. its got more pages than most people can count lol.its stupid how many choices it gives you. i want either a dark color, or a burnt orange not that orange brown that comes on the car.

does anyone know where i can find some info on how to take this thing apart to do the awd kit? i looked through u tube and it seems gen 1's are outdated. nobody has them and shows how to do some upgrade stuff. i looked on google as well. its all evo and street chassis..

any help here?

Im sure there are some tutorials around for the gen1 AWD upgrade...pretty easy install that most parts and bearings get installed on the front wheel towers.

larger wheel diameters can be found online or with a little fabrication be made out of almost any mini-z AWD design...you can visualise the minor differences in swing shafts between mini-z AWD and gen1 xmod and with a tiny bit of work make mini-z rims useable.

thanks!
The gen 1 ground effects do have another plug for the head/tail lights to plug into.
As for the larger offset wheels, you've already gotten some good suggestions but you should also check out this thread.

thanks for the info. after some searching i found shims, spacers etc. i also found people using washers. with some more thought it shouldnt be to hard...

today i took my old car apart and cleaned all that i could and tuned it up. i found out that the soldering job was crap and i ended having to redo soldering the connections to all the battery boxes, and on the motor. (is this normal for an older chassis? they all seemed brittle)

now to find a decent priced AWD kit for the gen 1.

can anybody on here recommend a battery recharger? i plan to buy a set of rechargables from AM but they sell this crazy over the top re charger. is it really needed? or can i go to wally world and buy a regular charging station?

sorry for all the Q's. i have been doing a fair amount of online research on product and what not. still trying to figure out the ins and outs.

hi and welcome to xmodding

washers will only get you so far without causing issues , for easy rims get some mini-z awd ones then just sand an extra flat on your xmod shafts.
gen1 awd will be hard to find ....and when you do will be costly , one way would be to buy the component parts in gpm aluminium ,chances are you will upgrade to this at some point anyway so may as well do it now

ok so onto chargers - if you are bashing around go to your local rs or doller shop get some 1000mah batteries and use the charger that comes with them

if you are getting into racing the a variable charge rate will be needed ...you carnt do better than a maha wizard one

ahhhh, pefect. thaank you!
i see a couple sets of wheels i like in there. i think the black with polished lip would look good. looks terrible on a real car but an x mod would be different.
