Default Mini Z Mr-03

Well i found this :
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...n&ItemID=36502

Now for the questions
is it worth that kind of money?
is it worth getting (im getting bored of xmods and i am looking to go faster)
Good points-Bad points
Im Getting a 2.4GHz controller for christmas could i use that with this? and the little reciever thing?
Upgrades? what to get first off....
what else is needed... besides batteries and remote?
can i just buy bodies and have them fit straight away?
is the MR-03 better than the MR-02?

Mega thanks in advance ...
Michael

It's depends on what you use it for. If you're using it for racing, then it will worth the money, but if you're just using it for messing it around, then just save your money, if you really want to move on to Mini-Z, then start with the AWD (MA-010) they are better for general use.

The Mini-Z 2.4GHz are ASF, so you'll need to get a transmitter that have ASF system or a transmitter that allow you to use a 2.4GHz ASF module, in order for you to use it with your 2.4GHz Mini-Z.

The chassis require 4 AAA batteries just like Xmods, battery for the transmitter will be depends on which transmitter you get. A standard Mini-Z 2.4GHz ASF transmitter is the KT-18, it require 4 AAA batteries, it's actually a pretty decent transmitter. First thing you want to upgrade will be the tires. Stock tires have no grip, get some Kyosho 30's up front and 20's in the rear. Next thing will be replace the plastic "bearings" to the metal ball bearings. Then you can move on to suspensions and differential and work you're way up. There are a huge section of bodies you can choose from, depends on the type of body you're looking to use, you might need to change the wheelbase of the chassis, make it wider or narrower and correct off-set rims.

Some people prefer the MR-02 over MR-03 and some people prefer the MR-03 over MR-02. So that will depends on the person.

That transmitter wouldn't work for the Mini-Z. The cheapest KT-18 will cost you about $80, but I'm sure you can find a used one for cheaper. Another cheap transmitter for the 2.4GHz Mini-Z is the EX-5UR, that one cost $180, but it allows you to set up how you want your car to handle from the transmitter and it can have 7 different settings. Other than those two, the other transmitter will require a 2.4GHz module to works for the Mini-Z. Atomicmods just got a large order in the shop yesterday, a lot of ASC (Auto Scale Collection ) bodies, a few MR-03 kit and some other goodies, so they should be updating their page soon. But since you're from UK, you'd better off get them from your local hobby store or online stores from the UK, cost for the oversea shipping is not fun.

Why are you getting the 2.4ghz remote.? Im asking because it sounds like you want to use it for your Xmods... The remote will do you no good without a 2.4ghz car.... If you want to replace your Xmods for a better driving car but don't want to spit out a lot of money for a race car like an MR-03, you should just buy the RTR 2.4ghz iwavers, they perform a lot better than any Xmod, and are half the cost of a Mini-Z, and they come with a 2.4ghz remote (RTR) you can use Mini-z bodies on them alsom so you have lots of options. If you don't want an iwaver, then a used MR-02 is a good suit also... you can get them on ebay or somthing, or trading and stuff on the forum.... If you got the cash and like top of the line, go for the MR-03... and a 2.4ghz remote, it will be a substanial amount of money for a car to drive around the house..

Its a ready set, so it will comes with the transmitter.

"Full readyset all in one package, INC: Painted body, Wheel type PERFEX 2ch Radio,Stock motor,Eco Motor, 3 Optional pinion gears inc, NEW I series 2 MR-021 Chassis MM"

If you buy an ASC set, then it will comes with a dummy chassis, it's only a display chassis, no suspension, no electric.

The one you posted in the link, is an AM MR-02, which mean it's not wireless. If you're planning on getting an AM MR-02, I'll recommend you to get a used one from forums, or ebay, since majority of the people are getting rid of their AM to get into 2.4GHz.

And donīt buy an i-serie! They have too many radiointerferences!

Here are some Firelap/Iwaver ebay-links from UK:

$185 for both chassis and TX? If so, that's a great deal then.

thanks for pointing that out
and what about this :
im willing to trade all my remaining xmods :
7 bodies
2 roller chassis
1 full chassis
GPM parts
wheels, electronic packages and parts galore
all for a mini Z mr-03
this way it helps me get rid of my xmods too
but now to find a trader :/ (dont know if this is against forum rules?? )

so basically what your saying winner is thats not a good deal for a new one?
well i guess its back to the drawing board!
Thanks
Michael

Sorry Dude, all that ain't even close to good to trade for an MR-03... Like trading a bunch of junk Nissan Sentra parts and stuff for a Corvette.... even if the total cost (When new) is close.. still a bad trade. I suggest saving your money and keep looking on ebay.. Also the MR-03 is very new, not sure anyone is ready to just trade one away. Also like I said before that's a big jump from an Xmod to an MR-03.... Bluedragons left you some good links for some Firelap iwavers... You will notice a big difference in the performance of the iwaver from your Xmod without going full out on an MR-03, If you do want to step into Mini-Z again I suggest finding an MR-02 on ebay, you should be able to get one for cheap now that the MR-03 is out, and it is still a very nice car...
