best car $1300 can buy?

my dad's focus was recently, well, messed up when something exploded in his engine. the repairs are $1300. he said that if he finds a good enough car for $1300 (well, a little more since he'd sell the focus, or more yet if the car's worth it), he'll buy it. he really likes mustangs and i saw a completely modded 06 stang for 6k. a bit too amazing to trust, unfortunately. so if you can find a good mustang in the atlanta craigslist, or if you have a suggestion for another good american muscle car or sedan, please tell me. thanks :I

Just craigslist hunt. Your not going to find anything from a dealership that cheap.

But 1300 is not going to get you much of anything V8 powered that's new. Your mostly stuck with work trucks and the 90s japanese sedans. Trivic is also still up on the Houston CL.

yeah, i know about that. i guess the 06 stang was a bad example, because he actually prefers older vehicles (not the sedans, though, has to be 1995+). and we don't really ave the time to go to houston .

At any rate, at that price range your simply looking at your basic family sedans, 90s us and jpn cars. Sometimes you find the sweet deals, but you need to live on CL to find them. The occasional 800 80s BMW and the like.

Get a 1995-1999 Nissan Maxima, good on gas, and very nice. Also they are pretty fast, and the milage never stops, theres people on maxima.org that have well over 200k miles on there Maxima, I'm currently working on 195k.

yeah, i know, but there's a problem... since my grandpa worked for ford, my dad treats owning foreign cars like it's a sin. it really sucks, but i bet i could persuade him to buy a beemer or the like if it's good enough. i showed him a wrx drifter but he didn't like it... or want to pay $20k...

The sub 1k Beemer is a unicorn. Mechanically, the 80s and older ones are fairly simple, but they were really electrical failure prone. ANd you'd be lookin at the old school 3 series, nothing fancy.

All our GM cars have rolled over 200k in my family. The GMC will tip over 200k this year. My firebird had 280k before the timing chain skilled a gear. About any car should last past 200k no problem with proper care...

$1300 is enough to buy 2-3 Gen1 S10s. if one breaks, you can jack parts off the other 2 to fix it.

you could buy a foxbody mustang with that much, you might get lucky and find one with a 5.0 (with a s**t load of miles on it)

Ooo, nooo.... Those 4 banger Mustangs were slower than the 4 banger Camaros, and those got their ***** whopped by school buses.
