Not to rain on your parade, but you do know CARFAXes don't always tell everything about the car right? I just want to let you know just in case...

I'm aware.

Well, its been three days, and the guy never got back to me, so it looks like I have to keep searching for a different car.

What about a first gen (1997 - 2000) Honda CR-V?

I have a 1999 and it has been an excellent mini SUV so far.

And "VTEC" kicks in at 5000 RPM.

Note I said FIRST generation, 1997 - 2000. The best looking boxy ones.

Our 1999 has been nothing but great since new! 142,000 miles and still going strong.

My dad's 02' CR-V runs like a beast (well, not really.) No problems that I know of. Only major problems I remember was that the center cup holder broke, but was fixed by warranty, and the rear door didn't close all the way (sensor or something else broke) Otherwise after being in four states, runs good.

I think I'm gonna take B1Gs suggestion and look for a good used Cobalt, they seem to be pretty sturdy cars. Hopefully I can find a place that will give me a car loan. With the economic situation and the fact that I'm a first time buyer, that could be tricky...

Edit: I haven't found much for Cobalts, but I did find something that caught my eye.

1999 Oldsmobile Alero, 3.4L V6, Auto trans (I don't think they made these with manuals?), 124888 miles, power moonroof, and other options.

My mom has the same car, except its the base model with the inline 4-cyl. Its the car I learned to drive in. In the ten years that shes owned it, its only had a few minor problems. However, I know nothing about these GM 3.4Ls. Are they as reliable as the 2.4L?
