Xmods Ferrari Enzo Track car Project

I wanted to do a custom body project to increase my experience so I bought an Iwaiver Ferrari body of EBay and I am going to custom mount it to my Gen.1 Chassis.

I need pointers and tips to make this look clean after it is on the chassis.

I would strip the chassis down to individual components and paint them all flat black, then re-assemble and make sure the paint hasn't caused any binding issues.

I'm not sure how much room you will have inside the body once it is mounted so you might want to remove the window plastic and spray the inside of that gloss black, after all the last thing you want to see is your custom mounts and the chassis If you have a decent amount of room then you could mockup the engine and interior but remember that a really Enzo is slammed, that's why it has the switch to flip up the front nose cone so you don't hit it on speed bumps.

Can you take a photo of the body sitting on the chassis, just put some temporary spacers between them so we can get an idea of the ride height.

I like the rims, they fit nicely... have they already been converted to fit an XMOD??

Ya the rims are already ready for the chassis. I Ordered some atomic v-pattern tires and I hope the come soon. Ill post pics a little later. Thanks for the tips so far.

I do need some form of a spacer look at the front wheel. It needs to be up further. Also Is there any way to make the axles wider on a Gen.1 Chassis?

I don't believe they make gen1 spacers... if you need to extend the chassis then you have to get creative, easiest way is to get a thin grade of aluminum and cut yourself out a small square then drill holes in it.

I like how it sits, especially how well the motor sits in the back window, I would almost say leave the windows clear and just spray the plastic black as an XMOD motor in the back window of an Enzo is pretty funny

You are going to have to shorten the front clip to get the front wheels to sit in the right spot, then make yourself a custom extender to get the rear length correct, ride height can be adjustable based on your mount, its tough although not impossible to extend the gen1 axles, you might want to look for shims / spacers to put behind the rims to push them out a little, also don't use the XMOD lug nuts, look for a much thinner option so you can put spacers behind the rim and don't need as much thread to lock it in place.

Okay thanks, where can I find the ? also when it comes to actually mounting it should I use styrene to make a custom front clip. and a block of it to mount the rear clip?

I wouldn't use a block for the back, just a flat piece to mount the clip to, and then skinny pieces going to the body. That way you save weight and materials.

I agree with pinsk17... try to make it as neat as possible and don't add extra weight especially if you want a track car, get a gen1 clip file down the stumps on top of it, glue it to styrene and work out how wide you piece of styrene needs to be, the trick with be to hide as much of the styrene and clip as possible so that you can leave the windows clear and see the inside, it will all come together once you start spraying the chassis black.

As for the front clip and mount you can probably just get a thin piece styrene, cut a piece out and make sure the clip fits tightly into it then cut it down and glue it behind the front bumper, if thats to much work then find an XMOD front bumper that fits your current clip and cut it down until you are left with just the mount and glue that in place.

Josh remember how I did my charger. I bought a lancer front bumper and cut it down to the clip mount and then attempted to glue it to the frnt. That might be your best option. Unless you want to use styrene, then disregard everything I just said.

You can get a wider stance by using mini Z ma010 wheels with a wider offset.
you can either modify the rim to fit the axle, or modify the axle to fit the mini z rim.
I haven't seen any mini Z rims too similar to the ones you want to use though.
But, it's an idea in case you can't shim the wheels that you have enough to work.

use a modded mini-z clip and use the side-clip method to clip on the shell. lightest-weight solution, which is important for a track car.

In regards to the side clip method, How would I do That?

glue screws to the inside of your body and drill holes in the battery straps.
