Default [COTM Car April] Toyota Supra - Gen1 Micro-X

Back again, whether you like it or not.

Okay many of you have seen this car before, and I'm having one last shot at COTM. I'm not really going to stick with this hobby for many reasons, some of you may know.

If I do leave, I'm leaving with a bang.

It is a Mini-Z, Micro-T, Generation 1 Mix.

Here is the specs:
Generation 1 Carbon Fiber chassis, that I made myself
Micro-T Board
PN racing Mini-z Rear Pod
2S Lithium Ion Square Kit (Made myself)
Carbon Fiber upper deck
Ceramic Bearings
Disk Damper system (mounted myself)
Tires
New painted rims
Upgraded differential
Soon to be Toyota Supra body

It has a 115 mm wheelbase which poses a problem.

Some pictures:

good outdoor pics soon

a steering vid:

my only plans for this car is to really get a vid of it in action, and get that body mounted.

Picture of the body:

If your body will look like the one you posted, I'd say your project is already in the upper 10% of all entries dude. You can't choose appearance or performance, gotta do both for these things.

It loooks good and everything. Looks rather stable. But you said it's a 115mm then a 105mm wheelbase ? Thats the part where I got confused on.

Supra body looks nice, what do you have in mind for paint or bodywork ?

Yeah, nothing annoys me more than the voting threads for COTM. Performance its always overlooked, and looks seem to win out much more. So I'm going to try and have 60/40 performance to looks. The body I think is a true long, tuner body, which is the look I want this car to have.

AND I edited that part, thanks for pointing it out John.

Looks crazy, wheel base is a tad crazy too. I'm guessing this body you're using is a model body huh? hope to see some interesting body work/looks with this too, simple and clean schemes i think are much nice than crazy... the chasis/specs is crazy enough.

Good luck, can't wait to see it finished

Merc, general competitions are like paintings: best one gets the prize regardless of the canvas you use. You can make the best one, but if your painting sucks, then its all in vain.

My advice is this: if/until XMS holds chassis competitions, don't rush your projects as entries because you prolly won't win over a nicer looking body ona stock chassis. IMO you guys might as well enter bodies on dummy chassis since it all comes down to the surface looks anyway.

i've been thinking that for a while too, i thought may be there should be two cotms a month one for bodies and one for chassis or flip back/forth evry (other) month but w/e

mercedes, very nice chassis (looks like it'll handle good, but the back end looks really light), the rearpod is a nice color, and if you don't mind me asking , where'd you find/get those (battery) cells b4 you made them in to a battery (pack)-very good chance you'll get my vote rgardless of the body

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm going to sell this guy, as it's probably my last car. Thanks for all the positive feedback.

I agree that there should be some body/chassis seperation, but thats up to the mods to decide.

I bought the batteries in bulk from a supplier in China, PM me, or hit me up on aim for details.

Okay guys, I'm ordering the motor that I'm going to use in this car as we speak. Should I go for a Stock-R, or something else.

This isn't going to be a shelf queen, I want it running on the track.

Any suggestions? Comments?

How about a custom wound one from XMDrifter or RedSXmodder ? But I think a Stock R would be good. Where are you ordering from ?

Btw, I don't think a lith crawler would work well.

Merc, if you're gonna get Stock R somewhere, could you let me know where you'll order? I kinda want to get one for the fancy endbell to make working custom armatures easier.

SKV, I'm planning on ordering from atomic, or getting a Lightspeed X2 motor.

As for the Lith crawler, its basically an experiment, not sure how its going to turn out.

The stock-r has great reviews though, but ordering probably from Atomic.

Gotta get a job, I'm looking in to getting a MA-010, a new rear pod, and more. Finally 14. This isn't a cheap project.

lightspeed X2...that's the 12t fat-comm motor that basically will fry any turbo but the stacked nelly...
are you sure your elec'll handle that?
the wheelbase is a problem, as it's longer than a long xmod body...
you'll need to shorten it to around 98 for it to fit anything that looks to scale

It's almost impossible to to get it under 112, so I'm going to stick with a model body

But, I have something up my sleeve electronically wise, and there is multiple X2s, one that does require the stacked nelly

Okay, I ordered the Stock-R motor from atomicmods for whoever was wondering, just an update.

I am yet to order the supra, but I need to find one with the correct specs.

Good to see you back in action.

My Nissan R33 has a 114mm wheelbase. I'm not sure if you're sticking to the Supra only or not but just thought I'd let you know. We can talk about it over AIM.
