Yesterday, January 18, 2009, my father and I hit up Downtown Detroit, despite all that I feel about that city, to make it to the North American International Auto Show. Braving the frigid weather, we made our way down I75 in my minivan, trying our darndest to not spin out like the many other cars in front of us had along the way. Thanks to the wonderful winter storm the day prior, which dumped an easy six to seven inches of snow; this was not an easy task. Slowing down slightly to exit the freeway, we noticed something I have not seen in all my years of attending the NAIAS.. no line from I75 to Cobo Hall on E. Jefferson Avenue! Typically we're stuck on Jefferson for a good half an hour waiting for the Detroit Police to escort cars, limos and the occasional Escalade around the corner and either into the Cobo basement garage or around another corner towards the Cobo parking tower. This time it was smooth sailing all the way to the Cobo parking tower! Rounding the cylindrical tower towards the top of the parking structure, trying our hardest not to get too giddy, we notice where all of the traffic we usually spot of Jefferson has been all of this time. The parking garage is stuffed to the brim with cars! Weaving our way in and out of lanes, down to the other end of the structure and back, we found a spot directly in front of a Honda CRX. Sadly, the poor little thing didn't know how to park into a space three times the size of the entire vehicle. We decided to do the exact same and park directly in front of the poor CRX. Making our way through the mass of carbon pumping machines, we locate the elevator. Slowly, waiting, impatiently I might add, the elevator makes its way up. Hearing that wonderful “ding,” the doors slowly slide open and a mass of people fall out of the door and make their own way to their cars. The few of us still wishing to make it downstairs at such a late hour march into the cabin and make our descend towards ground level. All ready with tickets in hand we step out of the door as they slide open and round the corner towards the entrance booths. Handing the tickets to the over zealous ticket-woman who greets us with a snide “Hello,” hinting at the long day she’s already endured, she stamps our hands and we’re finally through. Awestruck as we step through the doors, my father going to his immediate gut feeling of right, we head towards the end of the building. A good show go’er always knows to start at one end and make your way towards the other, that way you always know you’ve seen everything! Wading our way through fellow show go’ers we make it to the first stop: Jaguar. To view Jaguar they were only letting about twenty-five people in at a time, but since we were following around some Press Members, we slid our way in within minutes. The below vehicle is the 2010 Jaguar XF. The 2010 Jaguar XFR was the four door next to it, which is not pictured. After exiting Jaguar’s exibit, we headed across the walk to Lincoln. Now, unlike Jaguar, Lincoln’s exibit was a free walkthrough where you could look at all of the models they had on display and then even some of their many catalogs. Unlike my father, I was drawn to this futuristic concept car. Although the color isn’t something I would choose, it certainly struck me as an inspiration. Seeing as how all of the Ford division vehicles were in one area, we moved towards the Volvo’s next. Not really much to say here, except I do love this color and front fascia. Keeping along with Ford’s division vehicles I went and looked at the Raptor. Not only did they bring one of the nicest colored ones along, they also brought a simulator. Here people from the show, of any age, were able to hop onto a computerized chair with three screen monitors in front of them. For a few moments they were behind the wheel of Fords new SVT Raptor off in a desert. They had to maneuver tricky corners, a few slight inclines and declines and then the computer would shut down and let the person off. Not only were you just driving, you were feeling this experience as the seat moved back and forth with every turn and up and down with every change in elevation; certainly one of the more interesting things at the Auto Show. Rolling along with the years we head off to the Mustang display. Now, I warn you, Mustang happens to be one of my favorite cars of all time, and Ford certainly did not let me down this year by bringing along the new 2010 Shelby GT500. Oh, Ford also brought along a few other vehicles like the Ford Flex and Ford Fusion. Walking across yet another aisle way you will find yourself at the most oddly placed manufacture; Subaru. Stuck between Ford and General Motors, these little Japanese road cars looked slightly out of place. Although, they did look pretty good with their hoods up. Slowly finding my way through the mass of people we come up to the General Motors Emporium of Holy-Crap-that’s-a-lot-of-cars! General Motors had by far the largest selection of vehicles there, but it problem helps seeing as how they are the larger of the Big Three. Starting with Chevrolet, we were the only two people standing around these gorgeous Camaros. What looks better than a demonic Camaro? I think nothing. Although I would personally name it “Demon,” Chevrolet felt well enough with “Black.” There’s just something about those headlights... Shortly after we found ourselves at Pontiac. Seeing as how my next door neightbor owns the Saturn Sky, I just had to grab a picture of it’s lost cousin, the Pontiac Soulstice. After staring at the Soustice for a while, we headed over to Hummer. (I like the bike more..) Now, you’ll never believe what Cadillac has in store for it’s future. Ok, yeah, maybe you can, because everyone’s going the way of the Electric. Personally, I don’t like them, but this has to be the sexiest looking electric luxury vehicle I have ever seen! Announcing the Converj! After staring that above beauty down for at least a good twenty minutes, we made our way towards Dodge and it’s divisions. Yeah, there were a few Chysler minivans, but they haven’t changed a bit. But, there was this interesting Jeep that I must say was spectacular. Who wouldn’t want to go ORVing in that thing?! Next, is something I was a little weirded out by.. is it a Lotus or is it a Dodge? You make the decision. To me, it’s a Lotus inspired electric Viper. Lol. Now for many Dodge-boy’s favorites, the Viper: And for kicks a Dodge Truck. Pretty color. Slowly we move into the exotics with the Lotus. I was standing on nothing in all these pictures; for some reason the Lotus’ looked really small this year.. Must be because they were next to the tanks called Aston Martons. We briskly wall through Saturn to head downstairs towards the concessions, but to our surpise, we find something other than concessions in the basement… you probably wouldn’t have guessed correctly, even with hints… Downstairs are a whole bunch of electrics made by the many manufactures now creating them! Among a few of these electrics were Hybrids, but it was still pretty cool to hear only tires squealing around corners without having to hear the roar of an engine (although I do love that sound…). After eating our concessions and laughing at the people who tried to drive RCs in the basement (a few Traxxas, HPI and Team Losi electrics), we headed back up to VW. VW by far had the best light display in the whole place. Thank God for white cars and white lights! Too bad none of the cars were worth looking at… lol. Sliding our way past VW we made it to Mini. Now for the exotics… If any of you were paying attention to Jimmy’s thread a while back, you noticed I mentioned models, not vehicles. Well, Lamborghini brought the goods and they brought plenty of it! Best ***** at the show: *cough*erm..*cough* Ok, onto the Lambo. vehicles. My favorite luxury company.. Mercedes. Ugly *** end was not photographed. And just for kicks and giggles… something I certainly would not want to be T-boned in by our F350: All images now shown can be viewed at my Photobucket: Detroit AutoShow. Cheers, Kyle; Donziikid Photography.

Did you see a little golf car looking thing with a blue police light on top? Those trouble makers at Jalopnik were rolling in style in a little GEM electric car.
B1G, trust me, Camaro sweats nothing with the mustang. LS3, LS7, LS9, and a platform that handles it all. GT500 just looks like a bad case of down syndrome. The regular looks better than Shelby's. The Converj is simply the most beautiful Cadillacs since the 60s, hands down. It's a conundrum for me, a hybrid that I like. This, folks, is the end of the world wrapped in leather.

Very nice right up. I agree that one electirc dodge, sure does look like a mix between a Lotus and a Viper. My favorite was that "Black" Camaro. I do think the name of it should be Demon though. That thing is just sexy. I love those headlights too...they just stand out.

They all had models, but, obviously, some were better than others.
