I've had this happen stock to me before. What gen is it? Gen 1, 2, or 3?

For me I found that I just happened to overtighten the lock nut, try losening it a bit. If not tell me which wheel by location (example: US Driverside, rear) and if you have AWD, RWD, or FWD

Do you have metal bearings in there? Those might be too tight on the shaft and causing it to bind. Or, it just might be the tie-rod, as it usually makes noise while turning one way. You have to file the part where it rubs away.

I know this thread is getting old but I have some info to add.
I have the gpm front drive shafts for gen 1 too,and had the same problem.
I found the pin that holds the ball joint in the cup can sometimes slide out a little. This then rubs on the inside of the knuckle, causing lots of friction on that side.
I've not tried this yet but I thought of putting a drop of CA glue on the ends of the pins to keep them slideing out.
Hope this helps.
