Hey Man

I just recently got interested and am thinking of purchasing a HPI RC Car

Since you race them, I just wondering what ya recomend for my first car and purcahse?

Anyone else who does the same feel free to add your input.

if its a touring car then i reccomend:

Electric TC3 by Associated - Fully adjustable and
comes with alot of carbon parts making the car
lightwieght. If you buy a factory version then it
comes with some bling too.

Nitro TC3 - if your considering.... Same as above
but using nitromethane instead of the batteries.

Pros

Electric is fun and easy to use for all ages and takes very
little know how. For those that are new to the hobby finding
out how to fix it is simple to follow. Upgrading the electric
cars is also quick and painless except the funds maybe. hehe!

Nitro is another way to go and i prefer this myself as i can
just fire it up with the tug of a pull start and way you go.
If you run low on fuel....top it up, thats a whole like 5 seconds!


Cons

Electric models have the downtime of charging
the batteries. A 7.2v 3300mAh takes me 40minutes on
an older charger. Im not sure if theres any faster units
out there today, but maybe one that knocks off 5-8 minutes?
but still.....yikes!!

Nitro models may be fun as hell but....
Massive maintenance required, constant tuning of engine, always cleaning as nitro models are finacky. If you get a nitro i dont reccomend it if you havent
the time nor patience. Ive seen to many peeps get one thinking its the way to go to have them screw it up within 1 week.
If debris gets into the engine whether its through the motorsaver or
through another means its hooped. This goes for the rest of the drivetrain aswell. Ive owned both electric and nitro and have a great know-how to
on them, so if its just plug&play your lookin for.....Go electric, trust me on this!

This is how i have so many RCs now....Peeps mess the nitros up and sell them for dead cheap!
The TC3 nitro i have now was a mess, sand in diffs, sand in engine, just sand everywhere and took me hours to rebuild.

Since I'd be a noob at this I'm not yet comfortable with gettin a Nitro, especially with all the maintenance invloved with them. But if I were to eventually is there a "noob" nitro you would recomend?

More than likely I'm gonna go electric for the time being. I'm thinking of goin with the "sprint" model. Unless ya can recomend something else? How are the micro RS4 cars? Are they like xmods in size? I just like the many bodies available.

Ehh I have a rustler nitro she does 55 out of the box.. My first nitro not as hard to maintain as people say but expect to break **** , mine is a stadium truck btw. If you want a cheap nitro to start you off I would go with one of those cheap duratrax evaders they are like $220.

the sprint touring car from HPI is a basic car but great for noobs
for sure. If you ever need assistance please dont hesistate to
visit RCS forums, as my site is dedicated to all RC alike including
Nitro.

hey dude - you can also get nice r/c's at www.raidentech.com - they have both electric and nitro for reasonable prices - i got a few lil things from there and they're pretty quick with shipping and all. they're really safe and realliable too. I got a 1/24 electric Abram airsoft tank - it's really fun offroad and that baby stings if you ever get shot by it.

Red Rocket Hobbies has r/c's for order they got a ok selection. If you are looking for a good entry level car a TC4(AE) or a XXX-S are (Losi) are great on road electric. Once you get familiar with the parts and working with them go brushless!

I recomend the TC4:

As far as nitro i say Ofna.
