Default lipo vs nimh question

hey guys.. i was wondering if MaH can effect ur esc.. cause mah controls speed in a way.. but lipo has less MaH and produces a rediculous amount of power/speed but NiMh has a lot of MaH but less power/speed for ex:
1500 3c lipo pack can make ur car go around 10+ mph(xmod cars.. not sure on bigger rc) but im guessing its around the samle for 1/18 scale..
4500 nimh 6c pack can also get ur car up to 10+ mph but it has more MaH

my question... if a brushless esc can handle the 1500 lipo can can it handle the 4500?

i know its kinda an odd question but this guy is selling a rc18 and he has a brushless system running.. i dont know what brand it is.. i can find out if u like

well from what your posting and what i have seen
the lipo packs is going to be 3 series which would equal 11.1 volts
so you would go really really fast for a little while

the nimhk most like is 6s which makes it 7.2 volts. so you would go a little slower for a longer period of time.

maint thing you need to look at is how are you going to drive this. the nimh arent going to pack as much of a punch or be as fast, but will give you longer run times.

but with the longer run times if your driving it real hard you are going to be heating the esc up over a longer period of time.

either way you should probly get a fan for the esc.

oh emm not sure of it comes with one but im pretty sure it does.. but my question was if an esc that can handle a 3c 1500 lipo can it also handle a 4500 mah nimh basicly.. does MaH effect the amount of power u put into the esc? or does it just effect driving time/speed

You have me mildly confused, but MAH is capacity, not voltage or current draw, so no matter how high or low your MAH is, it will only affect your run time.

Voltage is the main concern. You need to find out what system is in there so you know the amount of voltage it can handle.

And, the voltage will vary for NiMH and Li-Po. Like my 1/16 Revo can only take 11.1v in Li-Po mode and a lot higher in NiMH mode.. I don't remember, but it's always higher in NiMH mode.

The reason you can go faster with a Li-Po is basically because they have a much higher dis-charge rate and can supply the power at a much faster rate.

I'm no battery expert, but that's my understanding of it.

i know it as this (no clue if it helps) the higher the Mah and the lower the Voltage the longer run time. The higher the Voltage the faster.

My 1/16 e-revo normally is running a 11.1v at 1300mah it is very very fast but the run time is okay.

My dad's 1/16 e-revo runs a 7.4v at 2000mah. It goes faster than a nimh but lasts longggg.

What kinda car are you going to be running or are you just asking.

Again sorry if i did not help

Yes. Voltage is your ONLY concern as far as damaging the electronics. MAH can be whatever it will not effect anything except runtime and weight of the vehicle.
