Post Lug Nuts

Sorry if i put this in the wrong section.. i dont know if it is an internal or external mod. Well, I've noticed that all the plastic lug nuts break when you eighter 1) tighten them too hard. 2) The wheels spin too fast and they fly off 3) they break while taking them out.
I was wondering.. if it is possible to make Aluminum lug nut designs using rhino and use a machine to make a mold out of it... my dad is a jeweler and he has the supplies to make the mold. and if it is possible, what type of metal to use? my friend say the aluminum is the best.. but i wanted to know what an Xmods' community thinks

It's better if you just buy some aftermarket ones. It would seem much too complicated to make your own. Head over to Atomicmods.com, they have a good selection of colours and brands.

there's like 40+ nuts in the bag so you should be good to use them on multiple cars or trucks...

I'm just wondering if you were gonna make nuts or rims?? You started off talking about making aluminum nuts and in the last post you say rims... Just curious because if its rims you're making, how you going to do it? Lathe?? CNC?? I'd love more custom alloy rims to add to my collection. And if it's nuts, it'll probably be cheaper to just get some 3racing 2mm lock nuts. They come in lots of colours and I have them on all my cars and they work great.

the only problem i have with those is they dont have the nylon center so during a race the vibrations of the car tend to slowly work them off

You get a small piece of tape on the axle and put the 2-56 nut over it then screw it in. It should hold better.

Locktight or threadlocker is more efficient than tape. It comes in a bottle or tube and is relatively cheap found at many hardware stores... even hobby stores. You want the blue type, you put a small drop on the metal axle thread, then screw on the locknut. It should never come off until you undo it. You should use threadlocker or locktight on all metal-to-metal contacts, like when using GPM parts.
