just go with a 2 cell lithium setup you will save yourself the time effort and all the trouble of having to figure out where to put everything just don't exceed 7.4 wont fry your car

Anything exactly over 8.4 volts won't fry your car, but it will significantly reduce its lifespan. I've ran 15 volts without a regulator, and it dropped the lifespan of my xmod board from years to months, and I had only used it twice! You will eventually fry your board, and might instantly with that.
