Default blown board at 7.2 volts

yep, just a few mins ago i hooked a 7.2 volt battery to an xmod board, blown fets instantly.... just thought i'd warn. i've heard that the limit is 8.4 i believe? im not sure if it was a faulty board or what, but just thought you guys mite want to take this into consideration before you try to push your board to the limits voltage wise.

by 7.2 volts was it a battery pack or 6 AAAs? Hooking a 1/10 battery pack up to your xmod will definitely fry it. But if it was 6 AAAs it should work fine. I wouldn't recommend going over 1000mah with a 6cell 7.2V setup, otherwise like said by Tmaxx its pretty much just the amperage that blows the fets because there's no BEC. If your really want to run some higher voltages you might wan to look into a BEC such as this one http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-PBEC1.html

well, the limit is more than 7.2. liths are 7.4. and i have quite a few that i have run liths on. many other members run liths. did both fets blow instantly? if that is the case, you either hooked it up backwards, or you had a bridged contact. 7.2 volts itself wont blow a board. what else was done to this car? motor, aftermarket chassis, etc.

lol im not really sure, maybe faulty board, i check all the connections, not bridges. the wires were in the right places, and yea, both blew instantly

it was a xtruck,
neo mags, lift kit, and bearings..
