the contacts on the switch must be bad, or maybe some of the solder joints are broken. You might want to open up the board and check the solder joints, and if that is all good then the best way to fix the problem would probably be a power switch bypass.

the power switch bypass is basicly removing the on/off switch(soldering the black and red wire together) and it makes the car turn one once all the batteries are in....
and please dont double post

dude...try not to double post, but anyhow... a power switch bypass is when you pretty much remove the power switch, by doing that the car just instantly turns on when you insert all four batteries and you also gain about a 7%~ efficiency, meaning more power due to the fact that the inefficient switch has been removed.

EDIT: Awwww Mycro you beat me to it lol

muahahahahaha i are ultra fast typer.. you shall now defeat my ultra fast typing responses and etc...

and you check them by opening up the board cover.. and removing the board from that spot.. and looking at the on/off switch area

Check the larger red+black wires near the center of the board. Heres a link to some great pic by Donzi http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18578 Its the 3rd picture down that you want, make sure those wires all soldered in nice and tight, and that the switch isn't too loose
