I called the rescue shelter today and they said i could bring it in and they would kill it for me and also informed me that it was illegal for me to feed it or offer any rehabilitation. I told them that I promise not to feed it but out of curiosity asked what I "could" feed it hypothetically. She said baby formula so I bought some and basically force fed it (eyes arent even open yet). My question is, does anyone have any experience with raccoons? If it survives, when is the right time to release it into the wild? Any special tips? I have it in a box at work with rags for insulation and a halogen light pointed at the side of the box for heat...what else can I do???
Well ZX9RBART, nice pictures of baby raccoon. Looks like about a week or two weeks old because eyes still closed. When eyes begins open, ears open up way from face, raccoon is a month old.

I did little research in google to help you out and what to do.

First, if you wants to keep as a pet, you need permit from Ohio Natural Resource office. It is legal to possess a pet raccoon but a permit is required.

Contact Ohio Department of Natural Resource for more information and they'll help you out alot. I'm sure there are people who raise wild animal like Bobcat, Mountain loin, Raccoon and much more you can imagination.

Here contact information:

OK enough with the discussion on racist terms... this thread is to do with BARTs new pet raccoon nothing was meant by what was said but if anyone has issues with it let me know and I'll make sure it is removed!

BART that thing is supercute, as I said in PM you are my girlfriends hero for saving it! Based on the information that 4x4Daddy posted you should totally get the permit and keep it as a pet! Then raise it to do something useful like spray paint xmods so that you can get a return on all that money you put into as a baby!
