Default Bumping Old Threads

i'm bringing this up because it seems to be happening more then it should.

for the uneducated or those who havn't botherred to read the rules, bumping an old thread is when you post in a thread that has'nt been posted in in over a month.
when you post in an old thread you "bump" it up to the top of the first page in that catagory and the staff here is just fine with letting dead threads lie.
so don't do it....

we do take exceptions to this rule.

R/C and Site Sections:

if you are the author of a thread then you're free to bump the thread as much as you want as long as you have updates or relevant information.

if you are not the author then the only time you should bump an old thread is NEVER.
if you're not the author and you bump an old thread then you'de better have a **** good reason.
"that's nice"
"cool rims"
"how did you do that?"
"ever had egg foo yong?"
are all examples of how not to bump old threads.

Off Topic Sections:
we're a little less strict in these sections but the above still holds true.

Stickies:
stickies are found in every catagory of every section on the forums.
they are always at the top of the page, hence the term "sticky".
bumping old stickies is allowed as long as your post is relevant to the topic.

now that this has been posted, the staff is going to be cracking down with little warning so if you want to bump an old thread to tell everyone that you like celine dion's new album......DON'T

cheers,
