Bondo is just saying that peolple should vote based on the effort put into the car, not just how it looks.

Sorry to see you go, Bondo; thanks for turning this forum around.

He ain't "going" anywhere, lol...

Good job on the site though bondo -- definitely worthy of recognition since you decided to take control of a bad situation and even succeeded to fix it.

(You owe me a PM update on the bodyshell, btw. )

Thats exactly what i dont think he was trying to say, Because i could go and attempt to lay a coat of paint 1000 times and it wont look as good as Bondo's first coat...

That method of voting makes no sense.

I think he means to vote based on acutally ingenuity and originality of the car instead of simple things like rims and custom bodies...

Clarification Bman?

Well that's what I was trying to get at:

Bondo has alot of talent and effort in his cars. Effort is not always how long it takes or how many attempts. But it is also the ingenuity and originality, like you said. It's a mix of the two.

Just think about it - would you vote for a car that was really easy to build? I know I sure wouldn't.

it's completely up to you who you vote for. all i'm trying to say is that it makes me less inclined to bust my hump and add detail like photo etch parts, wired distributors and custom cut chassis' if i'm going to get beat by a single color paintjob just because someone likes the rims or spoiler.

i'm not saying that effort should be the only grounds to cast a vote but it should be taken into conscideration.

when i cast my vote i look at 4 things.
1. originality
2. detail
3. modifications
4. overall excecution

this is mjy personal opinion but i noticed when i was looking at who voted and who they voted for that the members who have been around a bit longer and the car guys all seem to take these factors into conscideration since their votes are pretty consistant.
but i also noticed that the comps seem to have shifted slightly towards a buddy contest.
there's a couple groups of people that vote for each other no matter the comp.

there's nothing i can really do about it so it just turned into another reason for me take a step back.
people are free to vote for who they want but i'll be ****ed if i'm going to enter a popularity contest.
i guess i'll just stick with project threads.

I'm pretty much in the same boat with ya bro.

I think the COTM's should be based on those things I Underlined in Blue and it shouldn't be a popularity at all. I do understand that you guys want other people to win ever now and then but lets face it - there's a rule that prevent top modders from winning back to back COTMs so they can't take all the Victory - so it all fair game. I also hate to get beaten out by someone who didn't put too much time and patience into a custom - If I think anyone can do it then I vote for someone else that has something more unique (the person who took it one step more out of the box ).

Anyways, we'll see how it turns out .

btw - we're kinda steering way off topic here arent' we .
