Default Christmas in July? my "new" RC10T3

so here's the story, after getting sweaty outside putting new speakers in a friend's 02 camaro, i went and took a shower. after i got out of the shower i walked into my room to find this huge box on my bed with an RC10T3 and a LOT of parts inside.

i was real excited, turns out my great aunt (grandma's sister) gave it to me because her kids are all older and married and she doesnt have any grandkids of her own. im perfectly fine with that haha free stuff is always cool with me.

after reading up on it a little, i found out it is a 2000 model, so its about 8 years old (and im guessing the batteries are too...)

here are some pics, it came with 2 chargers (on is an expensive one with a discharger too) 3 battery packs, extra TX batteries, an extra speed controller, and all kinds of other extra parts. oh and some motor oil too.

if you know anything about them let me know, cuz this is a first for me. i got it to run for a little bit earlier, but the battery died really fast so im guessing i'll need new ones....idk. but while it did run it spun the rear tires on pavement so im excited to get it to run right.

Nice! Look around TowerHobbies for parts and stuff you'll need. I would guess some alloy parts and a LiPo setup.

i found out that the newer T4 has some interchangeable parts with the T3, including rims, so i found some nice HPI rims i like. (pic below)

i got this pic off the HPI website

i'm gonna go to a hobby shop tmrw and see what they can tell me about this thing, i'm still learning more and more about it.

i got it pretty dirty earlier, so im gonna take it apart and clean it and put it back together so i can get more acquainted with all the parts and how this thing really works.

after i do all that i might order some bearings for it, it just has bronze bushings right now

I say bearings first, make sure those beautiful wheels won't wobble.

You dont really need bearings for those. The large scale RCs have like no wheel wobble. Only reason you would really need bearings is to smooth the friction out in the axles. Also any standard stadium truck wheels/tires will work on this. Ive owned several RC10s so far. 2 of which were RC10T3s. They are real good durable trucks, and race great. Also your gonna need a new batt. I doubt that one still works well after sitting for several years.
