Overall look? How about overall amount of work done?

I could make my car look awesome as hell with a cheap *** lowering, wheels, tint and paint.. but that doesn't mean I did any work.

My car needs some serious work, I don't know if I could accomplish it in a year.. but something needs to get me motivated. Although I should spend my money on better things so I don't know how much I would get done.

Do you know how much gas is these days?

Year, that's great.
You'll see alot of change in my little car over that time (in fact, the next few months should be a big change). I'm up for it. Since I'm pretty much out of the RC Game (anyone want a Revo 3.3?) and all my money goes into me car.

But, great idea.
Are you gonna make like a seperate little forum for it, or even a "1:1 Project Forum"?

But judging is a tough one. Not everyone on here has a budget to do anything super extreme (mine right now is -$350), so you have to work it out on originality and so on. Or just not give a winner or a prize, and do like other build-offs do, and reward whomever has more pictures or just use each others builds (and pictures!) as motivation to move on yours..

And should there be a limit to how many cars/vehicles each person should limit?

EDIT:
Sorry for the double post, didn't think about that..

Well, look at it as terms of a project.

Many of us on here are in our upper teens are just getting or will get a car in the near future.

I have some smalll things (lights, audio, lights, wire tuck, lights) and some big things (wheels/tyres); and possibly the clutch (with the way I drive..). But, make a thread takes lots and lots and lots of threads, and make it a project. If you overhauled something that can be a project.

I'm game. I can talk to a few car show guys I know and ask what their criteria is and then apply that to this as best as possible.

sounds good, all suggestions welcome, we really do need a good criteria to come up with for the thread...and it definitely wont die because im always working on cars, so i'll always have updates, i just dont see the need to make a thread for my shiftknob, then for tail lights...etc...we can make a subsection for our projects...keep in mind that a project doesnt have to be a complete rebuild or anything, just improving your car, making it look cooler, making it faster etc., i think a year is a good chunk of time to get some stuff accomplished whether you finish your plans up or not.

Well, I am going to be doing some work in the next week or two so I will post the stuff in my car thread. See in a year what happens.

The criteria is funny, basically you have different groups who like different things. Custom paint/bodywork, sound systems, performance, drag queens, sleepers, ricers, you name it. There really won't be a common denominator between them because to incorporate as many people as needed to make it interesting you will have to loosen your expectations of what is necassary.

How about in a year we just have an open class "car show". X pictures of your car, what is done to it, future plans and a photo of your name on the car (hate to do that but lowrideit showed what people are capable of). In the meantime everyone can just document what they are doing.

Would that be an amiable proposition?

So since its open class as long as you have a car you can enter? If so i will enter.

I agree with that.
Nothing like someone winning something when they did squat.
Do license plates count?

I'm game. a lot can happen in a year. I guess I'll just post up everything I have now, and we'll see where it goes from there. the Frankenwagon might not get too interesting in the next year, but who knows. The 4Runner should be interesting though.

how about project cars we don't have yet? I'm planning an extremely badass build to happen over winter. It's nothing but knowledge and an idea now, but should be done by next summer (and no, I won't tell what it is).

That's a-ok by me. As long as the car is yours I don't have a problem with it. DIY home brewed builds ftw...

What's funnier surg, I just saw that car on the road a few weeks ago near here. The black 300ZX with the gold rims that he had last... It's a menacing looking car on the road.

You should have flagged him down and asked how he was doing since leaving the forum *giggles*, tell him how much you missed him here *giggles*, and also ask him WTH he was doing in Texas *giggles*.

Anti-poser rules, just-in-case.

That actually sounds dumb, because if i were to enter i would enter based on building my truck to be more functional.

Example, I'm not going to perform all cosmetic mods just to go out to work and beat the hell out of the truck.

Maximum of my mods would be stuff to help me at work:

-New headache rack that i already have
-Warn winch
-Back seat storage system
-Air bags (you know how hard it is to lift a 125+Lb pressure washer into a 3' high box? even with a ramp its impossible. So if i could lower my truck...). My dads old truck had the airbag system but it was way to heavy duty for this truck so it sold as is...

Im getting a new gauge cluster and fixing the dash as well as some of the stuff that i have broken throughout the year int he interior. I also need a new Z71 sticker cause one of mine is gone after i had some body work done on the side of the truck (anybody know where to get new ones?).

I was also thinking of getting black metal handles all around the replace the stockers cause i lost the cover on my tailgate latch...

So i dont know what others are planing but basing it on the looks of the car would push a lot of people out...

EDIT: Is there going to be a mod created thread because i got some pics to uplaod and a thread to make otherwise...

Is this the open class thread ?? Or is this just basicly a discussion thread ?? I will enter my car. Because I'm planning on (when I get it fixed) doing some major modifications to it. Maybe a new motor. The motor I have now is ok, but lacking in performance. Diffenitly get a new transmission.

If only I had the time/cash.
This would give me the motive to finally get my dream sound sytem in my Silverado, and turn it into the show truck I've always wanted.
