Default 1972 Mercury Comet

Well i finaly found a model kit of my car. Found it on ebay. It needs alot of work (just like my car) but it will be fun. I plan on making it dark cherry red and jet black two tone.

Heres some pics of what its looks like.

Thanks for looking, more updates later.

sweet,i've been wating to see you do this.
i've been watching your 1:1 and i saw the same kit on one of my fav vendors.
as a matter of fact,we should make it a rule that you have to have a mini scale replica for the 1:1 buildoff........good luck tex

anyways, grats on the find and good luck with it.
you don't see too many of those kits around.

Very cool project, it's killer that you found the actual year of yours.

No luck on my '69 :P

lol, next time i go to the hobby shop ill look around for one.

Theres always one or two comet models on ebay. Alot of them are still in the box, or kept nice, so they go for over $60. This one i got for $23. Kinda had to splurg on it but hey, i think its worth it. Any way, more pics tomorrow.

Thanks. You and me both. Cant wait to see it done. I was gona go with a midnight blue met. But i thought "why not be different?" So i decided to go with a nice dark red met. I hope to make the real car the same color.

Thanks. Right now my 1:1 comet is all flat black primer. I was thinking of using flat black on this car to mock it, but i decided to see how the car would look with the paint scheme i wanted.

Default finaly painted!

Its painted! Trying to get the real car finish, So i havent been able to work on this much. Ive started to put it back together. I need to find a rear bumper for it, didnt come with one. Its needs a few more coats of wax. Heres some pics of how it looks now.

Heres my favorit part. The original head lights were just chrome. I drilled them out out, put clear lenses in, and added lights.

Enjoy, all coments welcome.
