Default Painting Alloy

Hi all, I just ordered a set of GPM alloy wheels, and was wandering which kind of paint would hold up best. Should I get typical spray paint, or something more durable like some engine enamel? Any help is appreciated, Cj.

you cant really paint that alloy(that i know of)
It is anodized, so you'd need to un anodize it then re-anodize it the color you want

are they the delrin (white) wheels, or the alloy wheels. (both of which gpm make) if they are the delrin wheels, do a light sanding and spray away. regular spray paint.
if they are the alloy ones, you will have to use some sort of adhesion promoter, which "etches" the surface so the paint will stay. look at www.xmodsinternational.com under there wheels, they have some custom painted deep dish alloy rims. same principal used there.

or lacquer it. They lacquer musical instruments, like trumpets, flutes, and saxes. Sand blasting is involved.

if done correctly you can get nice results. the only thing you want to make sure of it any pivot points dont get painted or it could cause binding

also over time some parts can get scratched / scuffed, etc. you can touch em up or repaint them. and like said if you want it to be a color you either cant get, why not? you already have a nice finish to start with.

I would just like for them to be black. I like the look of the wheel, Im just not a shiny person. And as far as I know they are the alloy silver ones. Thanks for the help guys.

Painting alloy blows. It didn't really stick like I wanted to. So I powder coated them. Worked like a charm. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

When painting alloy, just scuff it a little, spray on a self-etching epoxy primer, then block it with a fine sandpaper to get out any orange peel/imperfections, lay your base coat, then clear.

I tried to paint them, but they just didn't come out the way I wanted them to. So, when I started powder coating, these were an obvious choice.
