there's a guy here in the twin cities with an R33 GTS.....it cost his parents (no joke) about $80k.

they're not THAT special!

you could build a subaru to perform better than a stock R34 GTR (which would cost 150k-200k, if you could get it) for about $20k

and getting a title for it here in the US would be virtually impossible.

'easy' is a word that will never be used in this situation.

I have a hard time believing in the validity of some people's statements.

So you want to import an skyline and will get a job and pay for it yourself in 5 yrs, on top of that do it 'as easy as possible'

It really does cost about over 100K to buy one, import/ship it to the states and get the proper papers in order to legally own and drive it.

I wish you luck in gettin it done. I myself really want a skyline too (probably more bad than anyone) but I know the cost and the reality of doing it.

Oh ya and btw for your infomation, they stopped producing skylines in 2001. So when you say you want one produced between 1999-2010, it really shows how much homework you've done, i think you need to do more studying.

Lastly if ya want one in 5 yrs, you might as well forget importing one cause supposedly in 2007 Nissan will be introducing the Skyline R35 to the States and it will cost about 70-80K, i say you work towards that.

O.k I can now get off my soapbox.

Yea I might be working for the rest of my life, but i Plan on getting a loan once i get into the job. That should pay for it.

Really would a Subaru do better like that? If i can't get a Skyline (but i will) I WILL be getting the Subaru.

What the crap? I've seen a Skyline from 2004 on a website a few months back, So....................... But yea if they got the R-35 I'll just get it then.

And yes, I WILL Probarly be on eBay for one, cause I saw 2, one for: 15,000 and rising FAST, and then one with NO Bid (what a crock) for 79,899 about.
So yes, eBay is Probarly were I get one.

But if not, Subaru, here i come. lol

Oh yea thanx for reassurence their Sky, I appreciate it.

stock for stock, an STi/EVO would be very comparable to an R34 GTR. keep in mind that the GTR is a very heavy car compared to the subaru/mitsu

and when you consider the fact that subaru has been making the same basic motor for almost 20 years. performance/replacement parts are very easy to find, and cheap.

save your money, and buy cheap and upgrade it to skyline performance. start with a GC8 ('93-'01) body AWD impreza. then an EJ20G (JDM STi motor, good for high-200 awhp with zero mods), or EJ22T (USDM turbo legacy motor, way cheaper to find, but needs some mods for work, but easily buildable to ~500awhp for less than $8-10k). both are closed deck blocks, and can handle 25-30 psi of boost. drop that in there, have it tuned, do some brake and suspension work, and you're set.

a buddy of mine is doing almost exactly that. started with a '96 2.2l AT AWD impreza ($4k). has done suspension ($500). has an EJ22t shortblock ($800), and WRX heads/intake manifold, both ported and polished ($300). plus engine gasket set ($200), TD04 16g turbo ($800), T-Legacy engine crossmember ($150), exhaust ($600), and standalone ECU...not sure on the brand he's using(~$500-$1k)

you do the math.....there's a setup good for about 400 awhp, and with the 2.2l and 16g, it'll get peak torque at about 2500 rpms (virtually zero turbo lag)

plus jdm sti brakes, and a 5-speed conversion, for about a grand for both...and you're set!

also, that's using a 16g, which will yeild a torque curve comparable to a small block. but peak at about 280-300 awhp. throw a Garret GT40R on that thing, and you'll hit 500+ awhp, but peak torque won't come until after 4k rpms.

the easiest way, however. is to get one that's been imported into canada, and is already retitled in canada. and then bring it into the US. and still the easiest way to do that is get one that's at least 15 years old. IIRC if you don't, the car has to be crash tested in the US.

If I had the money I would be hesitant on bidding and getting a skyline from eBay Only cause people ask for sooo much for a car that has like close too 100K miles on them, I'm a bit distrusting of the condition.

You can always do one of those engine swaps which people do to Silvias, you can find a car on ebay with one of those done and its much cheaper.

i dont understand why u wud want to spend that much on importing a car that many other cars can give similar performance to. u wud need a high paying job too. u can look for a wrx, evolution, supra, rx7 or other cars often for a quarter of the cost of a nissan skyline. and ravevolution is rite...if u are that desperate wait for that new nissan skyline coming to NA.

well u gotta understand that the skyline is like a dream car. its for the people who are ready to hit reality but stillw wanna hold on to their dreams a little. every kid wants to start off with a nascar car than wants something like a zonda (i saw it in gt3) and than by right before they hit puberty its lambos or anything rap stars drive so hes about to hit reality give him a break but ya its good to dream but its also good to have a way to reach it and with that skyline youll have to do more than ask a couple of people on an internet forum

I understand the dream car factor. just helping with the reality part

truth is, the only thing that interesting about the skyline, is the rarity. the performance isn't all that special.

take my buddy's '93 WRX STi monster for example. pushing almost 300 awhp, with a 16g (so capable of much more, but has a usable torque curve). for sale right now for $11,500

still AWD. lighter, smaller, and MUCH cheaper than a skyline will ever be. and the parts are quite common (except the tranny gears, but those are brand new JDM type RA as of last spring), so even if it does break (fat chance), fixing would be quite cheap.

Thats site is not bad, it definatly makes MotoRex look like a real joke of a company (more funny cause they are out of business).

Still though the lower price cars are models like the GTS or GTT which ain't actually on the up and up on HP. Plus I think he's looking for a GT-R Nur~ which are up there.

Yea I will have to get a good job, but i plan on getting one off of eBay or Yahoo, or what ever. That is already in the US and everything is done. (Paper work, insurance clarence, etc.) I may have to get a loan but not until I know for sure that I can't get one Cheap. Now all this is gonna unfold sometime next year, but there's nothing wrong with "Pulling the strings" a little soon. You never know, you build up the "strings" and somebody may give you one, you just never know. lol

Why Can't i just run down to the dealership down the road a little ways and get an Subaru Impreza i2.8 or what ever you call it? ( the car you see on the "Quaker" Oil Comercial, were it says, "You Paid for 300 Hp., are u sure you getting all of them?") That Car, why can't I just go pick up one of those and Mod it out? Is that just as good as i Skyline? Is that what your even talking about? (Srry I'm better with the Skyline to a better degree.)

and if i do get A Skyline (Yes I want a GTR-Nur~) i do plan on upgrading to the Max. Litery speaking. But it should be able to beat ANYTHING out their. PERIOD! lol

But yea, if I can't get a Skyline, I'll get an Subaru, OR Civic (Just a thought)

It might be a year or so till i can do any of this, but i need everything and anything you guys/gurls got on the subject that could help me. So I say Thank u much. And please by all means, keep it coming. lol,

PS
