Default Vans Shoe Box speakers

While bored this weekend, I had an idear. I had a cheap-o set of 6.5" 2 way speakers that we had as temp speaker in the GMC after the OE ones blew. Sitting in the garage, collecting dust. So, I took them in, grabbed an empty Vans shoe box (I for one, think the boxes look pretty cool) from under the bed, placed, traced, cut, and mounted them into the box, and used the paper that was in there as insulation to stuff the box (helps to deaden the resonance and reverb inside). Then, just ran individual speaker wires for each speaker to my Sony shelf system. Their clearer then the sony speakers, and bass and midrange is good and honest sounding. Obviously my camera does no justice to quality, nor can I really blast these at 10 at night, but I'm happy with them. Just it on my book shelf for the most part, and direct sound towards the middle of the room. Or move them around on my desk, bed, what ever and have a direct set of speakers near me. Along with the larger Sony speakers, it's good setup.

Screws hold them, with a washer and a nut on the otherside. Had to mounted these tightly with screws since they held the speaker cone to the frame.

Thanks

Got my vans on, but they look like sneakers...
Can the shoes still fit in there?

That's pretty cool. Got new shoes a few weeks ago, maybe I'll do that with the box and put it in the trunk.

Id imagine so. This wouldn't work well for trunk speakers, unless you tail gate party. Sorta like glass-hatch backs like the firebird. Open up the rear, and the shape of the glass helps direct and amplify the system inside.

Were all guys on here.

But thanks yall. These are a cheap-o set of Diesel Audio speakers. I think it was less then 20-25 for the pair. Crisp sounding with an honest amount of bass in the mid range. Good in room speakers fo sho. The Sony speakers take care of shaking the room

Edit:
Mwaaaaaaahaha, found another set in teh garage:

Wow, You should make like a tutoral on how to do those. I would really like to have a set of those speakers.

And I have like 7 vans sho boxes, along with Hurly, world industries, Es, and Adio sho boxes.

Place the speakers face down to find how what way you can position them. Draw a circle where to cut to mount it. Cut it. Mark holes for screws. Make holes. Get scews and nuts and washers. Put screws through speaker and box. with the washers and nuts on the back side. Tighten it all. Run wires to stereo.

Not that hard to figure out.

You wanna donate a set of speakers?
The ones in the front of my CRX are chirping like birds.

Very nice. If I can find some speakers somewhere I'll try to do something like that.

Walmart usually has decent pairs of 2 way speakers for dirt cheap. Maybe 20-30 bucks for the pair.
