APR G35 Widebody Project (56k Killer MY PICS ARE HUGE...trying to FIX!!!)
Okay ive been around here for a while, but just now starting to really get back into xmods. I decided to start with my G35 since i've already done a little with my Titan (posted it on here last year). Anyways, i came across the APR G35 while looking for inspiration for this project and that is what I have decided to do. Still unsure of the paint, wheels, etc...just trying to focus on the body for now. I've been at it fora couple of weeks. Yeah im sorry but this will be long and drawn out because I have a family and two jobs. Please I wanna hear your ideas and input.
Here is the APR G35: And here is how I have started off... First I had to cut the hump out of the stock G35 hood and fill it in with styrene. Then I cut out the holes for the vents in the hood ad added bracing made from styrene pieces. I also smoothed out the hood with filler at this point. Here it is with the vents in place and the widebody started on the rear of the car. This is as far as the project is right now. It looks like crap right now! Still a ton of sanding, filling, more sanding, etc. to go! Hope you guys enjoy! Last edited by TactiKal; 08-28-2008 at 04:38 PM.. Reason: trying to resize photos |

i've seen that g35 a few times on the internet...your car is looking really good so far...like B1G said body work is a pain...but keep up the work...on the paint job, if you don't like the red i suggest either "mica blue" it's really a good looking blue and i believe it has metallic flakes in it...

i hear ya about the too many projects...i have like 4-8 going at once, so it is hard to keep focused on the project at hand...but i do like your paint idea with the gunmetal head/tail lights, and vents....

or go artic blue. or competition orange, or pearl greean, or metallic black, or colorshift, or...in essence it really doesn't matter what you chose as the main color. gunmetal goes with anything. your choice, or exem make up your own color by mixing paints(if you're using an airbrush)

Thanks alot guys...i really appreciate all the input so far! I think once this thing is in primer we'll start seriously discussing paint schemes. I just have to keep myself motivated enough to finish this **** widebody! LOL! It sucks doing it but is gonna look dope when it's finished! I'll try not to slack on the updates too much.

Arctic blue all the way! Great hood so far. That styrene stuff can be tedious.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I will have sometime to work on it this weekend and get some more pictures. I'd really like to get it into primer, but that might be a longshot!
On a sidenote; does anyone have any g35 headlight lenses? I bought this off ebay a while ago and the lenses are pretty scratched and im not sure if i can salvage them or not. Hit me up through pm so we dont clutter up this thread. Mods if this is inappropriate please remove. Thanks! JEff |

UPDATE! Sorry no pics because right now they are unnecessary. Well, due to alot of work, Hurricane Ike, and the body putty cracking...plans have changed. Yeah, the putty kept cracking and besides that it was really weighing down the body. all the putty has now been removed and I am trying to make a decision that I would like your input on.
Should I scrap the widebody kit idea and paint this thing? Hood will reamin of course. -OR- Should I give the widebody kit a go with styrene instead of putty? In all, I have alot of projects goin on right now, this is just the only one you guys know about yet. The styrene body kit will take alot of time and if i do it to scale, it really isnt going to be all that noticable unless you really know what you are looking at. Just trying to get some ideas here! Thanks!
