Bought a new evo Vette today. I know I want to start a new build with new chassis etc...so I went with the vette since I'm a chevy chick. It's winter time and I can't work on the real car so I might as well do something when it's snowing out...

Project zRF is a Z06 Ron Fellows edition. Artic white with Monterey Red Metallic stripes with Machine Silver borders. I'll be sticking to the actual paint scheme as much as possible.

Car will be fully built, since I get a decent check in early Feb.

- AWD (I know vettes aren't awd but I like it ****it)
- lithium batteries
- aftermarket chassis
- stage 2 motor geared for torque
- fully GPM (silver, though I may get things powdercoated white or red)
- bearings (duh)
- suspension (duh)
- yadayada anything else?

They had nearly nothing at RS when I went there today besides the kits, so I guess I'm going ebay shopping...

Marking his championship tenure with Corvette Racing's GT1-class domination in the ALMS, Corvette racing living legend Ron Fellows is celebrated with a specially prepared 2007 Corvette Z06 production model. All are distinguished by Arctic White paint (including the door handles) that is accented with a racing-style fender stripe and Ron Fellows' autograph.

The front fender graphics are reminiscent of the identifying graphics of the Corvette GT1 race car. They feature double Monterey Red Metallic stripes with Machine Silver borders and Fellows' autograph in a contrasting Victory Red shade, along with the callouts of the championship years when he was at the wheel. There is also a maple leaf logo motif incorporated with the graphics, a nod to Fellows' Canadian heritage. Indeed, the red-over-white color scheme of the car's paint and graphics represents Canada's colors.

This special Corvette Z06 is the first signed special edition in Corvette's 54-year history, and is the first Arctic White Z06 ever offered. Only 399 are planned for production: approximately 300 for the United States, 33 for Canada and 66 for other export markets.

Exterior cues include a full-width racing spoiler and a unique windshield banner. Additional standard equipment includes the well-equipped 2LZ package and chrome wheels. Special interior appointments include: Red seats, center console, door panels and instrument panel Red, leather-covered armrest with a Corvette-signature "cross flags" logo that is hand-signed and numbered by Ron Fellows Tech pattern interior trim

An accomplished road racer, Ron Fellows is inextricably woven into the Corvette Racing team's success. He helped test and develop the first Corvette C5.R race car and recorded the team's first win in 2000. Fellows also grabbed the ALMS GTS class championship in 2002 and shared that position in 2003 and'04. Fellows has been a part of all six consecutive ALMS GT1 manufacturers championships for Chevrolet, and was voted the most popular ALMS driver in 2004 and'05. Additionally, he has slipped behind the wheel of NASCAR Nextel Cup Chevy Monte Carlo SS race cars when the series hits road courses. He's also scored a pair of NASCAR Craftsman Truck series wins, three NASCAR Busch Series wins, 19 SCCA Trans Am wins and was the GM Player's Challenge champion in 1989.

And finally a pic of the collection so far (plus a model stang body and a finished model camaro). The race chassis and the new vette are the only complete xmods I have. You can see I've already modded the Vette...I refuse to put on the wheels that came with it lol.


Lemme know what you think. I'm pretty good at painting things so I don't think I'll have a problem, I painted the camaro and stang in that last pic and they came out pretty darn good. Just takes patience. Any ideas for custom stuff would be appreciated...I'm always up for a challenge.

oooh, an intega, is that the revell model i got one too what color do have in mind for it, how about the rims on the vette

thanks, i have an older camaro model that i started painting with the opposite scheme...lighter silver with darker silver stripes...

i have no idea...i've had that teg model forever. i made it to be an xmod body so eventually that'll be what it is. color...no idea...and the wheels on the vette are the chrome 'bbs' ones from the wheel kit. if i keep those wheels on it i'll definitely paint them.

Been busy as heck with work and too tired at night to do anything...

Gonna get stuff done this weekend:
- pulling apart chassis and painting stuff that needs to be painted
- tracking down the colors i need to paint the body
- mask the body and prep for paint
- ordering parts from suicide_star
- ordering other parts from elsewhere
- etcetc

I'll post pics and such when I get more done.

It sounds lame, but I had a folder with this Corvette on it, it's awesome! I can't wait to see it done, looks to be very promising!

small update, i didn't get much done this weekend...instead I watched TV and relaxed since I hurt my back again.

(pardon the cell phone pics)
most of the chassis painted...flat black. I may add a layer of candy red on top, but it may be too dark. Maybe I'll test it on another piece I'm not using.


And went out and bought paint, then taped off the body and started some very fine sanding for prep.


I'm going to finish prepping the body tonight then bringing it to my school tomorrow where they have a spray booth inside

update:

started painting the shell today at my school...spray booth with hood FTW!

color is OEM GM Artic White, correct to the build




once again don't mind the cell phone pics. better pics when the body is cured that was a couple wet coats, one more coat to go i think...then:
- curing for another day
- masking
- spraying stripes
- doing pinstripe
- clearcoat
- curing
- wetsanding

chassis is almost done...waiting on some stuff from suicidalsomethingorother and i can start putting it back together. Probably won't be running liths for awhile...i'm broke.

Masking looks pretty good, paint so far looks pretty good, should be pretty tight once finished!!

masking is beautiful. if theres one thing i'm good at it's masking stuff i even did the pseudo mud flaps.

brought the body home from the spray booth. did some sanding on a run spot i found...gonna throw one more color coat on there and it should be good.





gonna draw out the stripes and get the masking ready.

i left the paint at school...and getting the parts on weds or so...so new update then most likely.

i believe that this car will be sick. i think that the AWD will be good even if its not going to look perfect or be just the same as the picture. it will be good. and you'll be able to drift a little if you want to with it.

i'm thinking about making a splitter for the front of the car...i know it doesnt have one but man it looks like it needs one.
