Default Gymkhana Project

So with the Rally Team project coming to a quick end, i figured it was time to start my next project. Ive been wanting to build one of these for a loooong time. And i just bought this beautifully painted body that would be perfect for this car. So it was just that much more reason to go threw with this project.

For those of you who dont know what Gymkhana is (Jim-Kah-Nuh) Its pretty much a mix of driving styles, Auto Cross, Drifting, Time Attack, Rally, it all comes into play. Its basically a form of showing off, and the goal is to do it the cleanest with the least mistakes, and in the fastest time. I noticed Ken Block just put out an awesome video that demonstrates this. Prob the best video out there right now on this sport thats been around since the 1960's but none of you have probably heard of. If you havnt seen it, check it out.

Anyways. Enough with the History Lesson, lets get some pictures rollin!

Starting off with the new subaru body i just bought from xmodification.
Cost $15

Took these Really beat up tC wheels, and sanded and filed the crap out of them and cleaned em up a little bit, then painted them white, and threw some slick tires on it.
wheels Valued at $4
Paint valued at $5

Now i dont feel like making a custom wide body, and having to repaint this car, but i wanted to get the effect of that wide body look. So i wanted a deep dish wheel, and im going to stick it out of the fender like maybe .5 mm. not much but just a tinny bit.

So im going to be running the tC wheels, backwards, with spacers. They will sit somewhere close to this when mounted. But the pictures the wheels are sticking out to far. They wont be that bad when mounted.

Workin on the wing...
Black paint valued at $5

Thats all the further ive gotten as of tonight. But heres the plans:

Evo Based Car With a custom built chassis from XMDrifter and Fiberworkz
Round Lithum Set up
Stacked FET's
Custom Motor Making some serious torque and speed
With other small performance upgrades such as bigger wires and things.
Highly Tuned Suspension and weight distribution.
AWD with CF drive shaft
Seal bearings
Ill do a lot of expirementing with gearing, diffs, suspesion, and turning set ups. But this should be one highly tuned car when its all said and done. Probably have a good 200 bucks into it sadly lol. But im really looking forward to it!

But if anyone has some sugestions they can throw out there now, that would be awesome, this is the first time ive gotten this serious about the performance of an xmod, So i plan to go all out

my mom has a little dance studio down town with a very nice wide open floor. so ill buy a bunch of little cones and make a sick track down there sometimes Of course, videos will be posted

What do you mean experimenting with gearing? Like motor gearing? Or locked diffs? or what?

Sexy wheels. Gymkhana is one of my favorite diciplines, I watched this one show on SPEED that featured Block driving Crawford's STi around.

Do you have a chassis for the car? You mentioned it was on a dummy in another thread.

perhaps a TRI-X 3.1 CF Chassis would be perfect for such a beautiful project.

It looks like the stock wing with slits cut in it and styrene sheets in between but thats just a guess. But i agree i would like to make one so a tutorial is a good idea if you don't mind sharing.

Normally im all for sharing. But i think thats one secret im going to keep to my self. Im in love with that wing, and like how unscene it is on xmods, so id personally like to keep it that way. but doesnt mean i can stop someone from trying to do it their self.

They are just scion tC wheels flipped around backwards.

i havnt worked on it. Im in the process of coming up with a chassis for it. Im going to finish my rally team first. and then worry about this one. but it will get a little bit of attention during these next couple weeks. But got to find a working chassis first!

I made you a cookie, but i eated it :-{
nice.
this will be totally worth it.
ever think of trying to do RWD? lol. jk
awd is a must when you have lithium and a motor like that.
how about doing the deep dish mod? it's done on larger scale rc's all the time.
after you do the mod, you'll have to shave off the ridge and use tire glue for your tires.

if you manage to get a car to do this and remain balance, i think that you will have recalibrated my thoughts on the ultimate xmod
