I had a red eared slider just like yours for about 2 years.
His/Her name was monkey. I dont know how to tell the sexes though.
Someone told me they adapt (growing wise) to the size of the tank or ecosystem. Mine stopped growing after about a year in a half and was about 4-6 inches in diameter. I had a 10 gallon tank that was fairly small.
I'm sure you can find it out how all that works by searching in google.
I recommend a heat lamp or a UV lamp because they love to sunbathe.

Yea,I need a heat lamp and all,but I cant afford it right now,due to my wreck and a **** load of bills.

I think mine is called red eared turtle, not a red eyed turtle.

I've had many turtles before, wild ones i caught in my yard or ponds, and i kept them for a little bit, put a small little mark on their shell so i know if i ever found em again, and let em go. to tell the sex of a turtle is simple, females have a completely flat stomach plate on their shell whereas males have a concave so uhm... they "fit" on the female lol and yes i believe yours is a red eared slider, common water/land turtle and fun little pets.

Turtle are funny...
I used to have a cat (still miss him..). And when we got a turtle, the cat jumped up on a table and look at the Turtle then look at me like "WTF is that?!?". I went to get the camera and the cat's like "Eh, whatever. Too much work to get dinner from".

But cleaning the tank (every two weeks too) is a Bih.

I have one. Would get a pic of it but I can't find the cord for my camera.
All I know is that it's a painted turtle.

Right now this is the best I can do.

Looks exactly the same as this one that I found on Google.

The stupidest thing to do,is use the flash when getting a picture of turtles !!!!

Even the smallest bright light can mess up there vision(a hot girl a petland or petworld told me,when I mean hot,I mean like model hot).

My turtle will bite me and not let go for like 15 minutes, unless I put him or her in the water, then IT lets go.I'm still unsure if its a male or female...

So you let your turtle bite you? Anyways, I used to have 2 of them, but I let them go in the park. Now turtles are illegal to have in NC.

i've got a turtle, its a red eared slider like most people have. i actually found him in our pool when he was about the size of a quarter, now he's bigger than the palm of my hand. its fun to watch him run around the house when we let him out, and its really funny to watch the cat run away from him haha

haha thats funny, our cat is afraid of our turtle, sarge. and the turtle wants to know what the cat is so it chases the cat and the cat runs away. he's not a very smart cat though, he only runs like 2 feet then stops and looks to see where the turtle is haha

we also used to have a turtle called a mississippi map turtle that was really funny looking, he had bulgy eyes and a huge arc in his shell, we named him crash, and then we decided to give him away to someone my sister worked with that wanted him

Your not very smart dude.Shipping a live animal would be very expensive.I would rather give him to a friend here that I know will take care of him, till I get back.

He's a member of my family(I know I sound wierd,but he/she is).

How would you like to be shipped in a box
Same scenario, shipping animals is wrong, and not very friendly, you could atleast drive the turtle to a friend.
