Default Xmods RALLY CAR

So I Have a Street Chassis With the 04 STi Body and I am Trying to build a Rally Subaru. I have the Raising Suspension, Grey Shocks, Medium Springs, And AWD. What Can I do For Better Clearance (Without Going To Crazy). And What Can I do for better Traction On Dirt, Crushed Gravel, and Ice?

You are all set, but bearings help reduce friction throughout the entire car.

You can also try foam tires or bigger tires. Try stretching tires over another and melting them together with a soldering iron.

Agreed, all that is to waaste if you don't have bearings in the car.

lock the diff, oh and you might want to look into my suspension travel mod, there's a link in my signature it raises the suspension lightly and gives lots of travel.

As for the bearings, I'd suggest you get shielded bearings since you'll be going through dirt and stuff, and that dirt will get into your bearings (if they're open) and eventually destroy your bearings.

Sealed bearings are almost like bushings, especially rubber sealed ones. I learned this from my big scale TT01. Really not that smooth with the rubber in the way. Smoothest bearings are opened and ceramic.

i think ur on crack

shielded bearings reduce friction, but dirt still gets in from the tiny space,
rubber sealed bearings cause more friction, but make it easier for the bearings to stay clean, because dirt doesnt get stuck between the seal and outer metal,
eighter way each are better than bushings... WAAAAY better
P.S. i read this somewhere on urc a couple days ago

Okay Thanks Guys. SO in regards to the tires I like the melting however that only solves my clearance problem. I also need lots of traction so what do you think of these tires? Follow the link

Okay, so I DId this using the Stock Xmods street springs. I have Wonderful Clearance. The only issue is that my steering is horrible. How do I fix that?

Mine steers fine, is it bump steer or like just some weak turning? You might want to consider some of the upgraded tie-rods, i am running the 3 degree rod or slightly lubricating the steering screws.

I fixed it. It was a silly screw in the way. I currently have the 4.5 degree Tie Rod installed and it steers beautifully. Also The clearance is AMAZING thanks.

Now I need Some Tire Ideas. What Tires Should I get For The following Conditions (ie. Dirt, Ice, moss)?

If i were you I would get some stock or worn out tires that you dont use anymore and double layer them ontop of each other, then melt them together with a soldering iron along the side walls of the tire, and as for the tread pattern you can make your own with the soldering iron but dont press to hard or else the iron will melt through the tires leaving a gaping hole behind not to mention it wont be too radial. You could always get those atomic ones, but then again its way cooler to make your own tread design.

Here are some tread designs if your interested.

the best tire design for rally is probably an X-block pattern with a line running down the center to help with the "self cleaning" effect when it comes to wet conditions.

For tire just take the stock rims and tires off of a xtruck, you mite have to lift the body a bit though

Thanks For the tips guys. I would take them of my truck, but there are to problems, 1 I need them for my truck, 2 I don't want to go that crazy with height. I want it to still look like a realistic car. But Thank you for the idea.

Im going to get some stock tires so i can mess around with the soldering Idea.

But should I go Stock or use something from the tire Upgrade Compound Wise??

the only difference with the upgraded slicks is that it has a hard compound, Hard is good for softer terrain (mud, sand, etc) because it plows through it and soft gives you more traction but is meant for harder terrain (rocks, asphalt, ice etc). Stocks are already soft compound but I would just stick with the stock until you get familiar with making your own designs, hard would probably be a better choice but wait until you get your designs down first so you dont screw up on the hard compound!
