I couldn't resist throwing it on the chassis and lightly setting a few pieces in place.. didn't want to put them in place fully since the paint is still curing:
Only thing left to paint is the front bumper and the small details. Edit: Crap, I got a small finger print on it.. good thing I still need to wet-sand. |

Another update, a bad thing happened.
I peeled the tape off of the windows, and it took little pieces of the body paint with it.. so now I need to find a way to touch up around the windows. Anyways, onto the pics without tape: Front bumper is still getting painted, hood needs more work, color isn't turning out right.. and now I need to touch up spots, and hand paint the details. Getting closer though! |

How long did you let the paint set? I usually wait a day or two before taking off any masking. But, **** she is smoooooth. 8) Glad to see the slammed wheels worked out for you too. And, Candy is a ***** to get even on parts if you paint them separate. I feel your pain. You can get away with using the lowering kit up front if you want to even it out a bit, since the rear tires tuck in more then the front.

I think your basecoat isn't as smooth as the candy coat, I love the candy red but the silver underneath seems bumpy.
With regards to touchups, there isn't much you can do I think. You could try painting a little more black around the window frame area to hide the spots. Good job so far!

Small update:
I have a new wheel choice: I think these look pretty darn nice as well. The paint doesn't look so hot in these pictures, I think it's the different lighting, it's under a fluorescent light which doesn't seem to make it stand out like it did under the other light. As you can see I painted in the rear bumper piece, I made a small slip though. Front bumper still needs painted.. I need to go out and get more paint, all of the model paint I had thickened up and got ruined. So, that will be on hold for possibly a few weeks.. money is tight right now. I still need to get those outside pictures.. I'll get the front bumper painted first and get it all put together. |
