I saw this on aol yesterday and they even said that he left the engine running for 15 minutes after it went in. Any chance of salvaging that car went out the window when the engine finally died. I may be wrong but a engine like that, well somebody is going to feel dumb for a LONG time.

Wow. When you own a car like that you're supposed to know how to drive. Then again i just dont see why a road car should be priced at near 2 mil. I'd rather that the Pagani Zonda F, which was faster than the Veyron around Top Gear's test track. Plus its a lot cheaper. But that would only be if I were getting supercar. If I had that much money I would definetely be getting something simple, like a Buick LaCrosse, or Camaro. Not a car that would take all of my money away.

The Zonda and the Veyron are both super cars, but on different levels. And besides: Koenigsegg>Zonda.

Lol we've all made mistakes before. The guy is probably perfectly competent but just got distracted. I've never been in an accident but I've had enough close calls in the 9 years I've been driving to know that it can happen to anyone. My mom ran a redlight a few years back and got in an accident. She wasn't on the phone, hell there were no distractions at all, she just was thinking and got zoned out. Rich people can do the same, they are still people.
That guy was lame in the car though. "That is going to be mine one day"... "I THINK its a lambo". If your going to own it you should know what it is right? |

Want to know the kicker? This man owns the Enzo that Eddie wrecked! It was brought to Houston, and repaired and then sold for Charity. This man bought it, and is a very generous guy. He brought it to Lemons and was giving folks rides, and IS a competent driver. What happened here, I don't know. Some suspect insurance fraud, and with this video it damages his story.

Hmm.. i thought of something, especially for a Bugatti, Arn't the breaks like set up to be super strong and the break pressure is stronger than usual? if so then couldnt he have stopped or at least slowed down even before entering the grass?

bugatti put some of the best brakes in the world on that thing.. he could have stopped in a second... it takes 10 seconds for that car to go from 250 to 0

Yeah, and the eyball stains on the steering wheel of the test car are there to prove it. Would this be any different if it was a Corolla? Heck yes! Instead of breaking news on Jalopnik, itd be "man drives car into lake" on the 5th page of the local paper, and itd get a 2 second spot on the 10 oclock news. But with the Veyron, well look! Its become a whole "this guys sucks at driving" fest. He made a casual mistake, and he happened to be in 2 mil. dollar car. Any one of you drivers could make the same mistake in your daily driver.

The Bugatti manages to be one of the fastest cars in the world, handle supurbly, but still be utterly boring and civil in the streets. It's an engineering/technical marvel as well. W-engines are often immensely complex motors compared to a normal V. On top of that it still has a world class interior and ride comfort.
In fact, VW (owners of Bugatti) sell these cars at a LOSS! They cost more to build than for what the MSRP is. It's a halo car to brinb Bugatti back into the light. And what a machine to do it with. The Zonda is a stripped down light weight and very pure race car. With just enough to make it road legal.

A couple things i thought I'd share:
If you notice, the rear wing is in the Up/engaged position which only happens when you brake HARD from a fast speed. (or when travelling above 130mph which he wasnt in the vid) The widest tires ever made for a road car only have a tread depth of about 6mm so they would require actual traction to bring the car to a stop....something yoiu dont get from muddy/grassy surface. The first service for a Veyron runs in the neighborhood of $20-25000....the price of an everyday car for you and me. The car can be salvaged since an all carbon tub essentially just needs to be washed off and it wasnt in the water long enough to wreck it completely....it's going to cost a schwack of money to tear down and clean and rebuild, though. |
