a brushless motor has not brushes to transfer the power to the armeture. it means less friction, and more power. unfortunately, they need AC to run them, instead of DC like an XMod system puts out, so in order to run one, you'd need to convert to hobby grade electronics (to the tune of about $200, plus other upgrades to handle the power).
a geared motor comes from an airplane. because an airplane prop isn't effective in the 30k+ rpm range that an electric motor runs most efficiently at, they put a GRU (Gear Reduction Unit) on it so the motor can be spinning that fast, and the prop only spins half that (or less...depending on the application). These are good for torque, but will not fit easily in an XMOD setup. IMHO, from experience, get yourself a Hyper Torque 180 motor from undergroundxmods.com. it's less than $10, and will yeild gobs of torque with no modifications to the electronics, and very minimal physical modifications to the chassis (a 180 is longer than the stock 130, the same mounts can be used, but you have to clearance a bit for the end of the motor, which might mean shimming out a tire if you've got oversized tires) |

could be, honestly, I've never used them. I've been so happy with my 180, I've never bothered researching other options. I don't even know what they go for...

It is VERY torquey, the problem that arises is that its insanely slow. Good for rock crawling, but in terms of xmods, its not that beneficial unless you want to have one of your trucks JUST for rock crawling. |

No thats a geared lemo-solar motor. They were designed for 1/87th scale table top trial truck but Avant a german from mini-zracer.com found them great for xmod trucks. They r torquey and pricey.

find my monster mudder thread, which I think has pics of my motor mod. I put a geared airplane motor in mine and it had TONS of torque. It took a bit of modding to fit it in the xmod, but it wasn't too bad. And the motors were only $15, which is cheap...
