Common crawling ?'s answered
Well i have one crawler with a tamiya universal gearbox and another crawler in progress(still need off road upgrade, bearings, swampers, install motor).
Today i installed dean plugs for the 6 cell. I can now convert it to 6 or 4 cells any time. The common ? "do i need a 6cell for my crawler?" the answer is no. But a 6 cell will help. My tests say that a 6 cell increases speed and torque with a tamiya universal gearbox w/ 18g wire, neo's and carbon brushes. I estimate that it increases speed by a whooping 1.5 mph!! (this is based on my eyes, no speed checker yet.) More to come this spring break!!Videos and more ?'s answered like hs-55 vs. tamyia vs. radline? ANy other crawling ?'s i can answer. Mods if this is not in the right place you may move it.

Which stock dog bone? the one form the stock truck(out of the box) or the off road kit. No it isn't bad to lock your diffs. It is better for crawling. But you need a good motor. If your crawler can't make it over something and is straning it's self. Stop and pick it up. THen you could break a dog bone. Other wise no.

Ok then well you should be fine. WHat motor are you using? Locking the diffs should be fine then. I want to see your crawler. If you have any more ?'s. Come here.
Well i have no video's or any more ?'s to answer. I have been working on other things.

I have few questions for you.
Which motor have a more torque, 26K or 30K xmods motor? Do we need to add some weight at front of body to avoid tip backward while crawling up like 70 degree. Does tire size matters? stock vs offroad kit tire vs swamper?

I also have another question I plan on getting a tamiya gearbox, do I need any additional parts to make it work in my xmod?
I have 1 more question, on my crawler I will have stock ride height, ghetto swampers and a tamiya gearbox, would it be capable of some ok crawing?

Okay sorry i haven't noticed there where other ?'s
4x4 daddy: 1.26k motor has more torque than the 30k. But if you put neo's in both the s2 is a better option.(good speed decent torque)2. Weight defiantly helps with traction. It depends on where it is. If you are going up a hill, in the front, down the hill, in the back. If the weight is to high on the chassis:you will tip over. So try to get it as low as possible. 3. i believe tire size matters. You have a wider stance and a better chance of the tire getting traction on the road. 4. stock tires , no good, too small, off road kit tires, okay decent traction, super swampers, very good nice traction and ride hight. irok's nono for crawling, no traction best dragon: The only additional parts would be motor wires. Yes it should crawl pretty well. It won't articulate because it is so big. To fix that: cut a hole in the truck bed and don't crawl with the body (just looks, crawl with chassis), you could get a huge lift(no point) or cut the rear off and mount it seperatly. (texan, me and chinese kid, have done it. with a decent lift.) To improve the performance of the gearbox: neos' (always will help) and you want some carbon brushes(tamiya ones stink) I am working on getting stuff for another crawler. It will be an hs-55. So i will run test between the hs-55 and tamiya gearbox. 6cell w/tamiya gearbox vs. 4cell w/tamiya gearbox results: The 6cell improves speed quite a bit with little torque gain. but it is more efficient at crawling over things. Speed really helps. Downsides: waste 2 batteries so you can't run another car and you have to install it. Overall good invest ment.($2 for the 6cell, 4 for the dean plugs, $6 total)

if you replace the motor for moving the truck with an hs-55 will it burn out?
do you know how i can use the hs-55 straight out of the box without any mods to it? is locking difs when tires only spin together in the same direction at the same time? |

I don't understand your first question. I haven't used the hs-55 yet but i think it is not possible, right out of the box. You have to have the 360 degree rotation mod and use the motor wires not the other 3. Go to lancer man for the hs-55, he can help on that subject more than i can. Yes locking the diffs is when both tires move in the same direction at the same time. Hope this helps.

No, you cannot use the servo straight out of the box. The main reason would be because a servo is meant to only rotate 180* instead of the 360* we need it to rotate.

You all need to look at some airplane and helicopter parts. Do a search on youtube using my same username, and look at my monster truck using a motor and gearing from an r/c airplane. This thing breaks dogbones left and right, but the motor has never seized. I used to blow through stage 2 and stage 1 motors, but this thing is built like a tank.

Would it be a good idea to lock both of my diffs or just the rear one or just the front one?also when i put my bigger tires on my truck the metal wheel nut spun ight off when i gave it gas to see if the wheels would spin striaght and when i put the stoock ones on it didnt do that.do you have any idea why it would do that?

i glued the titan rims to the back of the bigger tires i got and drilled the holes for the lug wrench and the metal ones just spun off and the stock ones stayed on.

For crawling i would lock both diffs. Just super glue the spur gear. and give it extra time to dry.
for the lug nuts: maybe because you drilled the hole. With my super swamper i used metal nut. They work fine. You could also use rs's 2-56 hex nuts.
