Camaro has already gone that way! The FireBird (assuming it is produced) is the same **** car! Putting a different badge on it is just as bad as what Ford are doing to the Mustang!

Firebird and Camaro offered many different engine and unique handling packages through out it's life and both cars had their own legacy in the auto racing world. Not only this, but back in the old days, who was the Mustang twin? Cougar. And look at every lincoln merc and Ford sedan right now and for the past 20 years, most every single one is a rebadge of another, not even changing bodies.

Difference is, Ford whores it's car in over 25 (last I checked) factory backed variants of the current Mustang, even a Barbey one if I remember right.

The early Cougar and in the 80s some of the other T-Birds and such rode on the Mustang Chassis.

Or just milk as much cash out of this cow when sales start to slide. 2010/2011 will be an interesting year though.

Nah mustang is safe until at least 2012 and the hopefully they can release a new Pinto with a fuel pump that doesn't always leak!

I'm still thinking about replacing the stang with a Camaro but I may wait and see what the final word on the FireBird also really interested in the new Challenger but really don't want to go back to auto.

the new stang is set to come out 2010/11ish, unless it got held back more..?

From what I keep reading, there are no plans for a new Firebird/TA. Currently Pontiac, Hummer, and Buick are under review to see if their future is worth still being around. But, there are aftermarket companies planning to make conversion body kits for the Camaro to turn it into a mock T/A, much like what their doing to turn the Challenger into a Barracuda.

God **** fuel prices.

Probably not... Merc may soon be like GM's Saturn, and import euro-models under the Merc badge... Which is a good thing lol
