Default Tutorial: How To Make Custom Drift Tires

This tut follows how to make your own custom drift tires.

Difficulty: 5/10

Tools/Things you will need:

*Rims of you Choice
*3/4 inch PVC pipe
*Hobby knife
*Low grit sanding paper
*Dremel with these bits:

Step 1:

Grab your rim and get rid of the ridge on the rim. The little part the goes all round the outside of the rim in the middle.

This can be removed in many ways, you can use a dremel, hobby knife, sandpaper etc.

Make sure the rim is absolutely smooth before moving on to the next step.

Comparison:

Step 2

Make sure that the end of the pipe is absolutely flat and straight, it should not be cut even 1mm left or right, this will greatly effect the finished product

Step 3:

Grab you PVC pipe

Now we have to reduce the thickness of the pipe using the dremel.

Use this bit:

Now you must move the dremel around the inside of the pipe.
Since there are many confusions when doing this i made a video:

Use very little pressure.

Step 4

Do this until the pipe gets hot, quickly check if you can get the rim in there like this:

Jam it in there nicely.

Step 5:

Put the pipe in this position:

Now keep whacking the pipe from the top
Or
Keep hitting the pipe on a har surface until it's in there like this:

WARNING!: Make sure that the rim goes in straight, it should be flush with the pipe!

You might notice that the pipe is a little stretched, this is ok.

Step 6:

Now grab the round cutting wheel and cut through the pipe about 1-2 inches away from the rim:

Step 6:

After the last step you should have something like this:

Now cut the extra pipe until it is flush with the rim:

Thats it ur done! now do this to the rest of the rims.

NOTE:

*If you think the tire does not have enough "beef" you can go buy a pipe joint, the thing to join two pipes together, apply the same process to that pipe and you will have a little thicker tire.

*You can paint it black before doing this process if you want it to look more like a real tire.

*One thing you must do if you use these tires:

Remove the large steering screws and swap them with the shorter ones, because now we have lower clearance so they hit the ground.

*Your clearance will reduce a lot so you may want to add the raising suspension arms for clearance.

Ok here is the best part, since these tires do not come off you can just slap the other tires over them, the larger diameter makes them stretch so they fit tightly:

And if you want a drag look, the slammed tires go perfectly over the car tire:

Ok, so what do you guys think?

Later, T.I.M
