mini-z's are not intended to be used outdoors, by the way.
if you aren't quite ready to sink money for a z, but you want better responsiveness/control, you could go ahead and buy a stock mini-z pcb and remote for a swap (you can probably find stock remotes for cheap used, and there's nothing bad about used mini-z remotes). Atomicmods has a tutorial for the swap you can follow, and it's not a hard procedure to do, and the results are very good.
