The wide tracks are not needed, but I'd recommend them if you have the extra cash. The wheel shims, never tried them. I heard they will bind if you use them. Not sure, need to ask someone else. To clean the sheilded bearings are much harder then cleaning open or ceramics. Search around a little, I'm sure you can find what you need.
