i had a kinda similar experience this summer. I blew my engine and couldn't drive the car, and I needed a vehicle, I couldn't leave the car in a shop for a couple weeks while a swap was being done because like you, I got things I need to do, and need a vehicle to do them. Ended up buying a used car and I'm still driving that now, and I finally sold the old car it's getting picked up this weekend.
