chits,giggles and a bit o peer pressure

(COPIED AND ADAPTED FROM THE ORIGINAL)

so i've got this model laying around.........:rockon2:

i'm going for the double down in the XMF comps this month.
buildoff and cotm(movie/tv).
my build is one that i got from surgeon about a year ago and it's been sitting in a box.
it isn't all there and i've got some changes to make and some parts to build .
maybe surgeon can shed some more light on the history of the project but when i got it i got the chassis, shell, wheels,a figure, interior, windshield, the taillights and grill.
the shell had been cut and shortened.
the only problem was when i checked the scabs on the back.
the plastic had become brittle and crumbled.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0228.jpg

there's a good bit of building to be done.......
i have to change the brand of the van, build lights and a brushgaurd, cut the interior to match the shell, build a spoiler and a visor, make back windows and of course paint and bodywork.

so, if you havn't already figured out what the build is.
:rockon2: :rockon2: :rockon2: http://www.truffleshuffle.co.uk/stor...eam_van_03.jpg:rockon2: :rockon2: :rockon2:

so far, i got the van back together and had to build the bumper since it didnt come with one.

wheels.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0546.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0574.jpg
had to cut the int. to match the van.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0573.jpg
puttywork and removing the dodge badges.

and in it's first coat of color.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0545.jpg

now it's time to tackle the harder stuff......
hopefully i can keep this pace to have a shot at finishing on time.
i usually don't work under this kind of pressure.
not only do i have to finish a bunch of mini projects to finish on time but i also have to bring my A game on all of it to compete with the likes of those guys.
if bondo goes bald......i blame zippo!

i forgot how much fun figures can be;)

(kinda feels like he's staring right at your soul doesn't it???)

i didn't paint his feet because when i mocked everything up i noticed that T is too big for this model.
someones due for some good ol' amputation.......
i pity the fool who don't leave my feet on when i tell him to.

more due tomorrow.

cheers,

not a whole lot of progress since last night but things are starting to come together.
i got started on the lights and got most of them ready for lenses and paint(ones finished but i forgot to take a pic) while the putty was curing on the shell.

the lights are styrene tube, clear plastic, mesh and a couple CLL kits.
they're a little bigger then on the photo above but they had to be to be functional.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/DSCN0671.jpg

so far today, i've got the visor on,started mocking in the headlights and filled the hood in a bit more.
yes, i know it's too big but i havn't shaped it yet.

2JZ-GTTE-SUPRA 04-17-2009 11:38 PM

a-team wooooooohooooooooooooo!

texan_idiot25 04-18-2009 12:14 AM

Ok, since the last time I made some outrageous request (spark plugs in proper firing order), I am going to demand that Mr. T can shout out some Mr. T verbal pwnage on demand, by speaker.

Camaro98 04-18-2009 11:24 AM

Turning a Dodge van into a GMC? This is going to be interesting;)

Do you plan on doing anything with the bodylines or the door window frames? Cool project; I can't say I haven't thought of doing this one before, either.

And as far as the COTM....isn't it open class for this month?

do it up man.
lets get a little side buildoff goin.;)
i've actually had this model for about a year but between moving a couple times and taking a break from modding,it just sat on a shelf.
do you have the actual A-Team kit?

do you happen to know anything about the van prior to my portion of it?
surg has been busy lately and i didnt want to bug him over an xmod project.

the XMS comp is open.
XMF has two comps running this month.
movie/TV theme COTM and an expert class buildoff(models only).

the body lines are pretty close but you can obviously tell noticable diffrences.
some are going to be changed but in the interest of saving time some are going to have to stay the way they are.
the side door is going to stay hinged instead of tracked but the window trim will be cut off at the visor.
i'm probably going to have to nix the running boards and wheel skirts aswell.

thanks a bunch guys.
updates soon;)

I don't exactly remember what Surgeon had done to it, I just remember him talking about in the UXM Secret Section. (And I forgot, was it Surge who was trying to make the Amphibious vehicle, or someone else?)

ling427ttvette 04-18-2009 11:13 PM

Dude, HELL YES! This is awesome.

Guy I bought my Camaro from took a early 90's Caravan, slapped a turbo on it and an intercooler and exhaust from a diesel truck and painted it like this van. It was fun as hell.
