Hey guys !! :D

This is going to be my first project ever muahahhahahah ! ;) Well i purchased a scaled 1/24 tamiya supra and ive seen people use chassis sapcer and stuff to make their chassis longer and it looks way harder well im gonan try do it my way! since the body is to long for it im gonna cut & putty the front wheel holes until its perfect and fitted :) im just going to do a really basic project just adding a front lip with putty etc ..... yes indeed it is going to be white and im planning on Black rimms maybe black roof / or black hood ill think about it. Well im gonna start on this weekend maybe tomoro i have some pictures of my car and supra :D

PS : i purchased Milliput today at the hobbystore it is silver and do you guys have any suggestion? ( my first time using it do i just wear gloves mix the 2 putty together then use and let it settle for 3-4 hours? )

Updates will be tomoro

and a pic of my workspace :)

Hey guys i have some questions to ask , ummmmm my images are in a link and u have to click em i used image shack to upload them i was just wondering how do you make it just a picture on the thread and like you dont havve to click link i would liek to know how to do this so it would be easier for u guys to see the image :D.

PS : eg somthing like this http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19251

The easiest way if you use photobucket is to click the 'share' button on the picture, then 'get link code' then 'IMG for bulletin boards', cut and paste the code it gives you. Make sure your images are resized to 800x600 first.

Also please do not double post. You can edit your original post if you need to add something, or ask a question, especially since the posts are 5 min apart.

Edit: (see how that works?) I don't know about image shack, but in the thread submission box on the forums there is a button to insert an image above where you type your text. When you click it it asks for the URL of the image.

Quick question, why didn't you get a Xmods or Mini-Z Supra body ? Seeing as they are easier to fit anyways. But this shall be a good project. Good luck on it.

Its kinda hard telling from the pics, but are you making your own wheel arches that are placed farther back or are you just puttying the sides for WBK look? I would only recommend to use a tad bit less putty because it will call for much less sanding int he near future. Good luck on this project man, I am looking forward to the outcome.

_rx7™ 06-10-2010 11:59 PM

im mmaking my wheel arches and i wanted extra putty on it so then when i sand it i can make the shape and stuff :D

lol 06-11-2010 12:42 AM

A good base for wheel arches would be some actually wheel arches from a body kit like a F-150 or z 350z or something. Good luck, but if you do make new arches, the body is going to look unscale and funky. :(

hmmmmm thats a nice suggestion but i think its to late :S well ill do that in the future and im gonna try make it look naturally as possible :D

and the exhaust im using , should i use the spoiler or no spoiler?

dreamingISdrifting 06-12-2010 02:04 AM

Painting 101, Rule #1: Paint Hides NOTHING, Paint is meant to enhance the detail or change the color of what you are painting, not to cover it up. So in short, no it will not cover any of the scratches up, you have to sand them down really fine with 800+ Grit sand paper if you want a clean, silky smooth finish.

Oh and I have another suggestion,, pack the putty in more, if you leave those little holes for air the putty will be weak and break. And as for the spoiler its all up to you, are you going for a BA look or stock look? I personally like no spoiler but its up to you.

_rx7™ 06-12-2010 02:30 AM

i think im gonna go for no spoiler thansk fior the info :D and yea ill search for some 800 + grit :D , hey i found some sand paper in my garage its 320 grit and other side is velcro would that be useful?

320 grit
http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMGA0428.jpg

ive been using this sand paper from school but dotn know how many grit it is heres a pic and i can get more so yea will it do the job?
http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMGA0427.jpg

how do u get rid of these marks ? :S

http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMGA0431.jpg

taiwanesekid05 06-12-2010 03:21 AM

The sandpaper is fine and will do the job (looks t be about 150 grit). IMO, I'd buy some new ones though... (I personally have 150 grit, 220 grit, 600 grit, and 1500 grit. 150 is for getting rid of a lot of putty, 220 is to kinda do the same as 150 grit, 600 is for detailing and minor smoothing out, and 1500 is just for smoothing out)

And you get rid of the marks using, um, sandpaper. Or if you're talking about the black dots, don't worry about it. Paint will cover it.

_rx7™ 06-12-2010 04:21 AM

just the marks so the sand paper with 152 on the back will smooth my body and get rid of scratches? cus i can get more :D thanks btw

Gizm0 06-18-2010 11:17 PM

I personnaly LOVE supras, im sure urs will turn out nice. In my opinion(my opinion dosent matter, im not important) all supras look better with spoilers, without one they kind of have a bald look. But of course its up 2 u. Maybe u could just place(not attach) the spoiler and take a pic to see how it looks.

Mmm... From the looks of the picture, it'll probably not get rid of the scratches... The best thing to do (IMO) is to get some 600 grit sand paper from Ace Hardware or TrueValue and smooth most of it out. It'll still have some scratch marks, but the paint should cover that up.

xmodsNSX94 06-27-2010 12:32 PM

hey nice project you got going here :)

looks real good keep it up.
however i have to agree with Gizm0. i dont like the supra with out spoilers but like him my opinion doesnt count either :D lol

i had the same problem with the scratch marks. however i used a 600 grit and that seemed to work allright :)

good luck
michael
