Election 2008

We normally do not allow political discussions of any kind, however, in light of the importance of today I thought i would post a one night only poll for who you think should be president. You may leave a short explanation if you like but flaming or bashing of either political party or another user for their response will result in the post being deleted and infractions given. Lets try to make this a decent, mature, thread.

What if we are undecided? I mean, I like Obama, but his idea of making everything equal among us troubles me. This is the explanation our teacher gave us: "Let's say you got an A on your test, and your friend got an F. Obama want to give some of that A to your friend to level you out." Does that make sense?

BART 11-04-2008 07:44 PM

If you are undecided feel free to not vote in this poll.

Scionbeave 11-04-2008 07:45 PM

i vote for McCain because most of his ideas and opinions i like better than Obama's.and over here in missouri the polls were open and so far from what i heard it was really close

Well, I actually voted for Obama really. I like him more than McCain, because at least he will bring our troops back. Just that it is a hard choice since both are okay.

TheB1GDude 11-04-2008 07:48 PM

I can't vote due to not being a citizen! But if I could I would vote for Obama.... this country needs a change not just another crazy old man with an idiot side kick women.....

fiberworkz 11-04-2008 07:52 PM

I voted McCain. The main reasons I wouldn't vote Obama are his "Wealth distribution" idea and his tax policies, there are several more reasons but these are the main ones. This is not to say McCain would make a better President, he has some pretty wierd ideas too. I'd say Bob Barr would be the best of anyone running.

About ^^^^ that. I totally agree we need change but the kind of change should also be considered. China needed change in the 30's too but definitely not the change that was delivered.

XmodzICON82 11-04-2008 08:02 PM

i would vote for obama....he wants to give tax cuts to hard working americans...and that's cool with me....besides, no matter who wins history will be made either way...if obama wins, he will be the first african american in office, and if mccain wins the v.p. will be the first woman as v.p.

makes since if life was all about grades. but im sorry grades have nothing to do with real life. think of it this way... why make the richer richer? and the poor poorer? why not put a stop to those greedy bastards who have billions of dollars. who never in their intire life are ever going to need that much, and spread it amongst the moms on WIC/food stamps who cant afford to raise their kids.

equal sounds better to me in that senario... just my .02 cents.

Yes I see. Guess it depends how you tell it. My science teacher fooled me again!
Maybe because he is for McCain. I still voted for Obama though. Change would be nice.

But then all we accomplish is making everyone equally miserable and all ending up broke anyway. Wealth distribution never works because if you take the money away from the rich how will they come up with the money to give the poor jobs? There are already numerous programs for the poor. With the risk of sounding callous; If you need money go get a job, don't try to bum it off of people who for the most part have worked their butts off to get where they are. Don't forget that a majoity of the rich did not start out rich [in fact alot of them started out poor].

WhiteMKIV 11-04-2008 08:34 PM

Obama, Health care in america is a BIG problem in america, and so is social security. McCain wants to cancel SS, and raise the health care costs. I dont agree on spreading the wealth, but i would sure rather live than care about some millionare not being able to buy his new bently

+1 - i'm in the same boat and I share the same opinion

Stampedekid 11-04-2008 08:42 PM

If I was old enough, I'd say McCain only because he is a war veteran, was a prisioner of war, and has more experience. Not to start a flame war but that is just my opinion. I like Obama's view on bringing the troops back though. Just my opinion.

EDIT:
Just thought of something funny from SNL
McCain is old he should be voted. Obama is young, he could run again.

while i agree with this on the most part. theres a loop hole.

Take the oil companys for example. they make BILLIONS of dollars each day... do they need that much? HELL NO. does the CEO of said company need to be making 300 bucks an hour? get real.

if the oil company only made 500 million a day. and that same CEO only took home 150 bucks an hour. he is still living the high life making twice as much money in a WEEK than the average person makes in a MONTH. are the oil companys going to survive on 500 million a day paying all their wages? god yes they are.

do you know how far 500 million a day would go to the poor people in this country. a LOONG ways in boosting the economy.

BART 11-04-2008 08:45 PM

So far so good, thanks guys.

Lmao. Talk about political pressure.

McCain. Obama has no real experience with anything, McCain's age means nothing.

The only way Obama can improve healthcare and SS is by jacking up taxes. Who wants the government to have even more of your money?

This is a good theory but oil companies only keep a very small percentage of what they make. The people who are making the money are the government and the oil providing countries. Oil companies still make alot more than you or I but they work for it too.

If I were eighteen years of age I would be voting John McCain. Barack Obama is a very, very intelligent man and has come up with quite a few ideas that could potentially work, but at the same time these ideas are just not quite suited for this point in time. I also have a slight problem with the whole government system being Democratic.
