Tutorial: Ghetto swampers v2.0
Hey darlings!
Sweed made a tut about Guetto swampers: http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8385 But I've found a way to get oversized guetto swampers... Here is a list of what you would need: - A soldering iron or any other heating tool. - A set of stock xmod truck tires. - slammed rims kit. - A set Off-road tires kit. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1693.jpg STEP 1: Use Sweed's tutorial and make sure your soldering iron or your heating tool is plugged in. STEP 2: Take the stock tire and stretch it over the ghetto swampers. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1694.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1684.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1685.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1686.jpg STEP 3: Take your soldering iron and gently rub it against the gaps were the stock tire is on the ghetto swampers. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1689.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1697.jpg Now do the same thing on the rear side of the tire. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1691.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1692.jpg STEP 4: Repeat the whole tut on the 3 other wheels and your set! Here's a size comparisation: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1682.jpg The v2.0 has a diameter of 4.4 cm. Which is pretty tall IMO:nod: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1695.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/IMG_1696.jpg Unfortunately, it ain't any wider...But you still gain alot of clearance without killing any grip! The end, Hope this help! Thanks! |
Sweet. Great tut man. I love when members take the time to post there mods as a tut. It takes that extra effort and consideration to your fellow XMS members to contribute to the community. Thanks dude. This will help out all those people who can't find the Aoshimas, which is a growing number.

Slick idea, c1v1c. ;) Thanks for sharing.

Nice! The new tires fill up the Titan's oversized front arches well, too. The backhalved Titan looks great.
Way to use common materials for an awesome result. Great job! :D |
nice might have to try this when i get a new pair of the offroad kit tires i also back-halfed a titan to its my avatar picture. we may have something in common...

Wow, those things are beast.

Thansk for the comments guys! Really appreciated :D
|
beastly tires. guess i'll be orderin, some eh?
|
What a great Idea! I wonder if the same technique could be used to make larger tires for the cars as well....
Great tutorial. |
I guess we could, I'd have to try it sometime soon!
@Xmd, It's not all that hard to do it lol. I bet you could give it a try! |
actually, i've made a set of wide slicks doing this
think i could make paddle tires by cutting up old tires and doing this? i need paddle tires for my 1:10 rally/drifter so i can drive in the winter lol. the stock slick just won't cut it in the snow |

Just a thought to those who can't find aoshima tires, those tires from a hess truck are excellent. Extremely soft and very very grippy. I took a set with just the tire fit it over the existing stock tires and the work great. Only thing is there not the tallest in the world.

we weren't talking about aoshimas. we were talkin' about bonding two sets of stock tires together to make thicker tires. imo, better than aoshimas because it's cheaper and the rubber is just as soft, if not softer.
