Evo VIII WRC

I have been reading up on rally projects you guys have done in the past and decided to do one myself. However, I saw that most of you, for clearance, have either used truck suspension or wheels. I do plan to use mine off road in a rally course i am building in my backyard (pics to come later) but I am going to try a different technique for the clearance issue. Its something i read about for the trucks to have larger tires that i am going to apply to the car. So just stay tuned for updates!

THE PLAN

THE CAR

THE DESIGNER!

And it will need a roof scoop!

Stay tuned..

There's another way to lift up the rear suspension of the evo chassis. You can cut off some plastic off the rear knuckles.

Once you got that area cut off, put everything together and install the upper suspenions top plate from the RS racing suspension tuning upgrade, then you can get the rear end of your evo chassis as high and as much clearance as a stock xmods truck. Here's a few pics of my rally STi from a few years back.

XMDrifter 09-05-2009 09:48 PM

that's high.....
though, what did you do about the knuckle covers? they look like ther'es nothing securing them anymore...

Dr. Kustom 09-05-2009 10:13 PM

Those knuckles covers don't come out so easy, unless you pull them out.

Looks like a good project, will be interesting.
I would also imagine a motor with good torque and low gearing would be a plus for a rally car.
Just as a suggestion for tyres,Kyosho do some MT tyres that have a nice bit of tread on.You would need Kyosho or GPM rims though.
I had a mini-z years ago with the same body in your picture obove, except it was white and without the sponsorship.

Good luck

I dont have the money to buy more parts. I was going to do this build with the spare parts that I have already. For the tires, I am stacking 2 tires on each rim for help with the clearance. I ran it outside and it works pretty well, as a matter of fact, it gets stuck less than my truck! I will post more pics later of my progress..

Here is my lancer rally car of mine that i run alot it has awd, hi torque motor and alot of alloy parts so i do break. it is a evo chassis with lipo's, i need to get new tires they are all used up. so i just put street tires with some tread on it for now and still not bad for off road. Here is a couple pic's maybe you can get some idea's from them.

@bkfdsxmods, it say the pice have been deleted

Dr. Kustom 09-06-2009 08:41 PM

Hi, winner, I would like to make a tut. on how to lift the rear suspension on the evo chassis. But I have already sold all my xmods stuff. =(

UPDATE

Ok so i took the scoop from the firebird hood and cut and filed it to fit as the roof scoop.

http://i29.tinypic.com/10fp4jp.jpg
http://i27.tinypic.com/35c3qf4.jpg

And here is the pic of the car with 2 tires on each rim with a height comparison

http://i30.tinypic.com/2qc41fp.jpg
http://i28.tinypic.com/657orr.jpg

And that is still stock suspension so not to bad and still functional. Still have to shave off a bit of the wheel wells.. Also i think that stage 1 with neos and maybe a fifth cell should be torque enough. It runs on just stage 1 alone now. More updates to come!

im not sure what panel lining is, but i do not plan to change the body at all. (except maybe some battle-scars from running off road!!) :rambo:

Bananabrain 09-11-2009 08:33 AM

Sweet dude, that looks awsome just like the picture.

bestdragon2001 09-11-2009 06:19 PM
