so why are you calling project destruction? and i take it this is going to be a track car right? do you plan on stacking FETs for a realy nice motor? Last, how do you plan to reduce weight? what do you plan on taking off or changing?

those kinda confused me aswell..
like removing weight from the body? or like from the chassis

Stugottz 02-13-2010 10:56 AM

try taking off some of the weight by the rear bumper shave it off

lol 02-13-2010 11:59 AM

Remove weight by using a NSX body. :)

Redo suspension by stepping on it.

no really. what is this suspension re-do you speak of? :)

For the Chassis itself yes.

I'm stealing the whole suspension idea from the guy doing his track car with the front suspension being over the knuckle itself.

Are you sure? The lip kit will protect the body, and it will not be 2.5 styrene, it will only by 0.5-1.0 styrene.

Plastic on Chassis is the last to come off though.

2x2 FETS yes.

Called
"Project : Destruction" because I can name it that.

One thing to save weight, glue the body pieces onto the body after shaving bits and peices off. That would save A LOT of weight, but downside is that you can't remove body peices and thats a pretty nice body to glue stuff on.

Either way, have fun building this chassis and body ! :)

dreamingISdrifting 02-13-2010 02:13 PM

or you could file the body down lol, my friend did that to his car, now its like snake skin and weighs like 19G

That's the one! Not sure how he is getting his suspension to stay firm however, I may need to look into a different coil.

"- New tires?"
..............Yes,you should get new tires.
I'd definitely file the center ridge off the rims and put some mini-Z tires on it
if you want to decrease lap time(you wrote "increase track time" but I'm assuming you meant the opposite)
What kind of track are you running on anyways?
The type of surface you run on should determine the type and degree of tire.
As a rule of thumb you should always run a softer tire in the rear.

I'd say tires can account for at least 60%(probably more) for handling. The right tires will make a world of difference on any car.
So I'd start with tires, then mess with the suspension and other stuff after.
Buy a few different sets to tune your car to the type of track/surface(if you can afford it)

I'd try and save some weight from the body rather than the chassis.
The body has more excess weight plus you'll lower the center of gravity.(and decrease roll-overs)
I shaved allot of weight off of this normally heavy body........
http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL11.../353101309.jpg
That body is now lighter than my mini-0Z 05 NSX body.(I could have even gotten it lighter than it is now)
I know it's a little different than the supra, but you get the Idea.

Also, one of the best things I've done to a gen-1 was install a micro-T board and servo. I've seen used ones go for as little as $10 delivered for both on some forums.
That would definitely fix you steering problem as well as greatly improve you handling, so it's worth keeping an eye out for a cheap one.

Also the biggest challenge with the gen 1 xmod is the rear suspension in my opinion, but it sounds like a fun project for you to tinker with anyways.
Good luck, and have fun.

Stugottz 02-15-2010 09:43 AM

cool so far and ur adding a clear plastic kit underneath

4G63punk 02-15-2010 12:01 PM

sweet exhaust. did you just paint the tip blue? looks like the greddy ti-c.

Blade. 02-24-2010 01:06 AM

Help please?

Not sure what's with the coil... I think it's too soft being cut in half.

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/001-1.jpg

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/002-1.jpg

Look at the nasty negative camber with none of that stuff on..

Any ideas on coils that can be used?

Thanks.

The yellow springs are softer than the stock ones. I know because I have a set.

I'll cut up some of my hard Custom Rydz ones I guess.

Blade.

dreamingISdrifting 02-24-2010 06:35 PM

tray to cut it shorter than that then stretch it, usually when you stretch springs they get stiffer, or you could just go for a taller spring.

Blade. 02-24-2010 11:15 PM

Here's updates.

Thanks Kaze for the help! This is what I meant by how the right side is being held up by the left side!

I think so. Do believe this will be a one-off mod also.
