Project for others

This time I will be building a Mini-Z Overland truck for a member from another forum, its basically is to create a wide body kit for his F-150 body.

^ the gearbox just kills the ground clearance.

dreamingISdrifting 12-28-2009 11:12 PM

/\ the lego tires must are barely any bigger than the stock ones otherwise you would be scraping the ground lol, WOW the mini z bodies totally kill compared the the xmods.

That's probably the BIGGEST flaw in the MZM and the OL.

see the that under the left wheel?
Well, because of that, it gets stuck pretty easily,
here's an example:

See what I mean?

Sorry for the thread jack Doc. Hope you don't mind.

Your making a WBK so the tires are flush with the body? Wow, that's gonna be one really wide BK:roll_eye:

Really, using some wheels that are a lil closer to the body will make life easier. Lol.

But hey, considering your past projects, I'm sure you'll find a way.;)

Later, T.I.M

Yea, the lego tires on it are only few mm larger than the stock OL wheels, and yes, the details of the kyosho bodies are amazing, lol.

Lol, its ok Tim, I don't mind. As for the body kit wont be as wide as the wheels are, I will keep the body kit to scale. I also wish the chassis have the OL axles on it, but the owner was the monster axles for the wide stance. The chassis is about 114mm width.

Update: The F-150 is back from the chop shop. (All cutting are done by hand, no machine cutting.)

lol 12-30-2009 07:29 PM

Dr. Kustom 01-26-2010 09:13 PM

Started a new project for another member over MZR. Its another S2000 project from me. This one is very simple, just need a little body work and a new paintjob.

This is how the body looks when I first got it.

what happened to the f-150?

Dr. Kustom 01-26-2010 10:03 PM

The F-150 still haven't finished yet, I am waiting for the owner of that truck to send me the OL chassis.

Dr. Kustom 02-01-2010 08:48 PM

F-150 Update: Start to work on the front left fender, chopped up a lot of plastic and then fill it up with some putty. Also starting to add wheel well for the rear fenders.

S2000 Update: Have been spending a few hours into the front bumper, and this is how far I get now. Cut up the rear bumper for the exhaust and made the headlight looks more like the AP2 headlight.

Update: Just got the chassis back from the owner yesterday, so I started to work on it right after.

I installed some Bridgestone Desert Dueler tires on the chassis.
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...d/IMGP0990.jpg
Then start to work on the rear end of the truck.

The new wheel well is really deep so when the suspension compress, the wheels won't rub against the body. (I still have the make the wheel well for the right side)

Wow as usual Dr. Kustom makes us all look bad with our build skills..

lol jk looks sick i love the look of those tires. Can you put a comparison shot next to the swamper?

Donziikid 02-17-2010 11:03 PM

How is the clearance on the front tires? May be just the angle of the picture, but it looks like there could be a rubbing issue at compression?

Looking sweet, though.

Cheers,
Kyle.

dreamingISdrifting 02-17-2010 11:14 PM

yes a a pic of rear clearance too please. Are you doing this out of your kind heart or how much are they paying you? IF your doing this for free you are one cool guy!!! BTW where did those duelers come from?

Azngtboi88 02-17-2010 11:17 PM

APR s2000 nice! Nice work on the AP2 headlights! Is it staying red?
I need an s2000 body to match my car....hmm they are so hard to find :(.

blue504life 02-18-2010 12:07 AM

thats a good looking truck, the wide body kinda reminds me of the 2010 raptor

Both tires are made by Aoshima, the Dueler are smaller than the Super Swamper, and compare to the Super Swamper, those Dueler are hard, but still have pretty good grip.

Thanks Kyle! On the earlier stage, it was sitting on a monster chassis with extended axles, but now its on an overland chassis, so I'll need to re-do the front fender, the front wheels does rub, its so bad that it can't even turn, I'll need it sand down the front wheel well and make the front wheel arches bigger, but for the rear, when the suspension are compressed, it have no rub at all. Here's a side view of the truck.

I got those Dueler from my Aoshima Pajero model kit. I charge $20 to work on any body, but it might be more depending on the job and you will need to pay for the materials.

Thanks Azngtboi88, the AP2 will be yellow with some CF decal to match the owner's 1:1. True that they are getting harder to find though.
