Snow Plow F150
credit to 123vette for the spring idea
This is pretty easy. you will need 2 Pretty long screws 2 Car springs F150 body kit off road bumper Very small drill bit. i think 2mm or smaller. depending on your screw size. Plastic bottle(i used a mountain dew bottle) screw driver. Hobby knife Super glue(nail glue) ok well first get your materials. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0988.jpg (you will need to cut out the middle portion of the plastic bottle. the found part. cut it in half. and the trim it accordingly. trim it last so u get the look you want) Then seperate the small brush guard from the bumper http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0989.jpg Then take the small brush guard piece that you removed from the bumper. drill a smalll hole in the top corners like so http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0991.jpg Take yout piece of bottle the piece that you cut in half. and trimmed it down just a little.(that way it aint HUGE). lay it over the brush guard, try to get the brush guard in the middle of the plow. (behind the plow shoudl be the brush guard) http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0990.jpg Mark you holes with a pen or a marker. and then using the same drill bit(by hand) drill out the 2 spots you marked. Next take your 2 screws and put them threw the holes you made. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0992.jpg Then put a car spring over each screw. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0994.jpg Then screw the plow (with the 2 screws and 2 springs still on) to the brush guard. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0995.jpg Then put the brush guard back on the bumper and apply glue to the inside points. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0996.jpg then put on your bumber http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0997.jpg (another pic of it mounted) http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IMG_0999.jpg And yes i know it is a yellow bumper on the blue f150... i started with the yellow one incase i messed it up. Finally trim it to your liking. and you now have a functional spring loaded plow. comments are welcomed and please let me know what i need to change to make it perfect. i know some steps could have had pics but my camera battery is dead. and i wanted to get some what quality pics. |
cool where did you get the plastic? can you make an easier step by step tut? please
|
Not bad at all my friend!
Spray the bottle plastic black or sliver and you'll be all sorted!! |
im guessing a seltzer/sparkling water bottle would work too right
|
Wooooooooooooooot! XD Now all you need to do one for is the Titan! Of course with a spare bumper.
|
@Big:Thanks alot lol i am gonna paint it but i have no clue on a design. it will prolly be black. do you have any thoughts..... never mind i think the design i do, i think youll like it lol.
@Kend: lol yes i used a mountain due plastic bottle. i am gonna revise it once i find the camera charger(stupid special standerd square rechargable) it was rushed cause i need to take the pics rather quickly. so i couldnt take alot of pics showing every step, |

A few foot tall of snow up here will eat that snowplow with no mercy!
Great Use of the pop bottle though |
hahah cool same idea as what i did for my push bar on my flatbed truck cept i used car springs. I was going to make a plow for that truck using the same idea, but i think a 2 liter bottle peice of plastic might not be strong enough to actaully push snow. reinforce it or get somethng else like a sheet of aluminium

@123vette: sorry but i used your idea and incorporated it. i am gonna give some credit to you for the spring idea i was gonna do it but i forgot who made that flatbed lol.
lol the plastic from the bottle, was the only thing i had on hand. lol and i made the tut with that material cause almot everyone has acces to. that is like a base plow. mine will soon have aluminum caning in the middle and then another piece of plastic. i also have to reinforce the back. so it dont just bend i want it to use the springs. |
