Neat Trick for Painting Wheel Lips

I needed a way to paint some matching wheels for Project Axis, and I came up with this.

First, gather materials:
---Paint
---Airbrush [or rattlecan]
---Wheels
---Highlighter/Expo Marker

Now, cut off the bottom of the marker. If the marker is too small, add some tape until the lip of the wheel is the only thing showing.

Next, shoot your base color, in my case, gunmetal:

Finally, put your marker on the wheel, taking care to center it. Shoot the lip color, in my case, yellow.

And that's it!

another way guys, paint the rim then(of your color choice) then put a piece of masking tape, and trace the tape around the rim, once you have a circular trace, cut the tape and the rim will not be exposed for paint, only the lip.

That is a great trick, I will have to remember that when I paint rims on my next project. Thanks for the tut.
