Project: Widebody tC

Well, I've been working on this for a few months... Mostly just planning. In the last few weeks, I've been trying to add putty to make the body look lower. It's not really going to be an extreme widebody, but kinda sorta.

Pix:

Still working on the front end:
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/7955/img5373x.jpg

This side needs more putty and needs to be sanded down:

This needs more putty and some more sanding:

The rear is almost done, still needs some more details.

Little problems on the edges, needs some putty work.

i think you should go for a more sculpted and realistic bodykit. the door lines seem too low and the thing looks to be a bit slab-sided.
but that's smooth work you have, and the sharp corners are nice.
the rear doesn't seem to need to be that low...it can probably do well with a sculpted diffuser and the sides with some kind of character lines to git it the depth it needs

taiwanesekid05 04-09-2009 11:27 PM

I'm going to try for this sort of look:

http://www.tunerzine.com/articles/266/images/11.jpg
http://www.tunerzine.com/articles/266/images/12.jpg

I'll change some of it, but quite a few of the elements will stay.

XMDrifter 04-10-2009 04:39 PM

well, that's a lot more curvy than the one you have right now. i think that look probably should be acheived by lowering the car body, then doing the modifications

taiwanesekid05 04-10-2009 04:44 PM

Yeah... I did lower the body by 1-2 mm, and right now i'm working on puttying the body to make it look lower because simply lowering the body itself won't get rid of the tank like stock look.

*Double post... hehehe*

Ok... Time for a minor update.

Front is still undone XD
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8355/img5422dnd.jpg

I got bored and wrote stuff on the masking tape :D
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/7614/img5428.jpg

As you can see, the spoiler mount holes and where the plastic injection thingy have been filled in. Yup, it's going to be spoilerless.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8629/img5427.jpg

The rear is being reshaped to be more accurate. Also, the little thingy on the bottom was taken off. I'm going to add some fin thingys and use .1 instead of .3 styrene:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3310/img5426n.jpg

Rear wheel arches have been puttyed to be more parallel to the ground (it's going to do something later...)
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5972/img5425m.jpg

The front wheel wells have been puttied to be smaller so they'd look more natural:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9417/img5423.jpg

This arch was a *****. The stupid putty didn't set as well as I thought. So I essentially destroyed it. I'm going to redo them later.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2381/img5424q.jpg

Well that's it. C&C :D

XMDrifter 04-18-2009 11:05 PM

get rid of the side slab. you need the normal sized doors. your doors are too tall

taiwanesekid05 07-04-2009 09:27 PM

Since its summer vacation, started to putty again :D

Essentially, I started to throw on a bunch of putty for the front wheel wells and the side skirts so I could remold the wheel wells and make the side skirts parallel to the ground again. Also added putty on the bottom so I could recreate the door lines.

Sorry XD I was busy with AP testings and finals. Now I've got enough free time to start it back up.

deckerz 07-05-2009 08:12 PM

good good, i take it when you put your putty on you put it on in sausages?
im really feelin what you did with the wheel arches (making them smaller), makes the car look more real, gotta say your talented making a body kit with putty and it looks good, better then good, amazing, better then anything i could do with putty.

Thanks a bunch :D

I usually put it on in sausages unless if there is something needed on a flat surface (I usually just smear it on XD)

taiwanesekid05 07-06-2009 07:02 PM

Did some more body work at one in the morning :D

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9788/img7644e.jpg

On this side, there was some softish putty that wasn't mixed very well, so I got rid of it and smushed some more putty on that side.

Detail work and getting rid of some body lines:

Fixing some minor errors:

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/1347/img7648c.jpg

The holes weren't sanded down perfectly smooth and flat, so added some more putty there:

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/7877/img7650f.jpg

And I had some extra putty left over, so I made a smiley face :)

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4211/img7651s.jpg

Now I have a lot of sanding to do :'(

taiwanesekid05 07-07-2009 10:00 PM

*Ahh... A triple post >.<*

After some more late night sanding, I've gotten some of the thick putty sanded away.

Odd magazine ad fun :D

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/6436/img7669d.jpg

The right wheel well is pretty much finished. There's enough room for the wheel to move around when turning so I'm satisfied with it.

http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/8059/img7659.jpg

The left wheel well still needs work done:

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7931/img7658k.jpg

I managed to sand down and smooth out some of the body lines:

http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/894/img7666.jpg

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/1862/img7668o.jpg

I managed to sand down the bottom really flat since I rolled the car on some sand paper XD

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9840/img7665m.jpg

I'm pretty satisfied with the right side. With the 1000 grit sand paper, it's pretty smooth. But the places where slapped the putty on it's not exactly done X(

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5590/img7663y.jpg

The left side still needs lots of work.

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/554/img7664.jpg

That's it n_n C&C's please

4G63punk 07-07-2009 11:11 PM

I'm getting rid of most of the body lines, but I'll be etching the door panels and other random bits back in.

Really? Thanks :D Let me know what she thinks of it.

taiwanesekid05 07-08-2009 08:04 PM

With around 3 hours of work (the styrene was a ***** trying to reshape, but I gave up so that solved that problem :D), I managed to rough shape the front fenders. This is the only major difference between the 1:1 car.

http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/9753/img7677j.jpg

I put the wheels the other way to see how it was like (not bad, not bad ;) ). I'll probably start working on some widebody wheels soon.

Here's the right fender...

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/4342/img7678g.jpg

And the left fender...

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/5414/img7679j.jpg

And now the new paint scheme...

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/9748/img7680l.jpg

Sharpie! :D

Naww, it's just to see what it looks like when the styrene and putty are all one color so I can shape the fenders better.

taiwanesekid05 07-09-2009 07:22 PM

Small update:

Added/ sanded some putty so the front wheel wells would be smoother with the front end (and be more accurate to the 1:1 model)

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/4140/img7681.jpg

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9350/img7685.jpg

And a photo of how far out the front wheel wells come out to the mirror.
