Additional, More For Subaru Lovers

So, Since I have to use putty again, I figure lemme catch my current interests up to the WRC spoiler and have a putty day. I've been thinking about this one for a while and think I have the right approach to do this, I could be wrong, but I plan on making this right. (Some of you might hate me for chopping "rare" shells.

i will give you a arm and leg for the subarus lol. did you start with the painted body or did you paint it then decided to make it the wagon?

4G63punk 02-27-2010 10:53 AM

can't you just get a wrx wagon off ebay without the hassle? lol

KITT222 02-27-2010 11:44 AM

I have been wanting to try something similar, but I dont want to hack up my only Subaru body. Maybe if I had a junker body I wouldve tried it. I also thought about maybe making it slide into place where the spoiler is.

Looks like you've got a good start so far! And judging by how hacked up that rear window is, its best to not post pics of beore cleanup...

When I bought it, it was already painted White by Surgeon. I had a hard time deciding which shell to cut. I was going back and fourth between this and a 2nd Subaru, the other I was gonna use is perfectly blue so yea....

Lol, Yea I think you were around for that time when people were just bashing you when you were showing the raw cuts and such. It's harder for people who don't try and dremel their shells for their projects to tell them that thats what it looks like mid process, all they care about is the before and afters.

At least you understand =P, Hopefully I'll make you proud of this Idea. I'm kinda hoping its easy to do seeing how I'd like to make a Civic hatch outta the existing Civic Xmod too.

Uhh, Since when did they make Xmod, iWaver, or Mini-Z Subaru Impreza Wagons? Last I checked, this project is original and unheard of on this scale, Maybe a Model Kit conversion? but where's the fun in doing the same thing others are doing?

Not to mention, its an xmod shell being turned into this, its strict body work, theres no chassis extension, and rim offset measurements to worry about. (Sorry I'm not trying to be A-hole about it, just defense of my ideas because I personally feel this is creative, and like i said, never heard of anyone doing this, the closest was the SPR body conversion of a Legacy Wagon, and I think one was a model kit and the other the TOMY body shell)

WRX wagon for the win! Here's another reference photo...

Kaze 02-27-2010 02:29 PM

Heh, that temps me to make the weathering on it when i'm done.

GearHeadV8 02-27-2010 03:30 PM

haha thats not weatherin thats just pure mud! thats exactly what a perfectly detailed subaru should look like lol

Tmaxxn3 02-27-2010 04:46 PM

SWEET!!! i love it

texan_idiot25 02-27-2010 05:53 PM

There was someone a few years ago who made a EVO 8 wagon out of the xmods sedan.

xmodcrazykid 02-27-2010 06:17 PM

what is the stuff you used for doing the body work?

GearHeadV8 02-27-2010 06:27 PM

That was Lancer_man texan. it never looked right lol

sypherxero 02-27-2010 09:40 PM

Woot woot!! A wagon FTMFW!!

Conshence 02-27-2010 11:42 PM

This will be a very interesting buld. Very unique (in my untrained perspective lol). Im keen to see how this turns out.

Kaze 02-28-2010 02:48 AM

Update:

It's a little feeble but I'm trying to get a feel for how to make the rear, The hatch doesn't seem too hard to make but Structurally I'm not sure how to make the pillars, for now its just measurements and fitting, maybe i'll find something stronger as I'm running out of cards to chop up (Styrene isn't available locally to me)

fuzzy 02-28-2010 03:54 AM

pm me i have a ton of cards i can send

sciontc333 02-28-2010 11:11 AM

haha, thats pretty cool. i think you will have the only real xmod subi wagon, and i think a civic hatch would be just as cool.
